Basically Ive just never replaced my MAF, think Ive cleaned it a few times but I dont know if its the type of part that just needs to be replaced. For the sake of replacing it...

I dont get great gas mileage, and my car needs a little throttle on cold starts to keep it from dying. Ive done all the other tune up (spark, coils, air intake, fresh fluids) but Ive never changed this sensor

Would it affect HP or mileage at all if it was just old?? Or is the type of thing where its either good or its bad

a dirty MAF can REALLY effect your throttle response and power, but i guess if you cleaned it a couple times, it should be okay, its not a item youre supposed to replace on a daily basis

its really.. really expensive, $250 brand new i think, but you can get used ones off the pathfinders or even maximas from junkyards if yours breaks for a substantially lower price.

How many miles on your Q? My MAF died at around 150K

I replaced it with the 2000 Maxima MAF for about $75, been running great since.

Ive had the car since 96k, has 120k now. As far as I know its original, Ive never replaced it or have any record of it being replaced.

Its only $100 online and new. but I dont want to waste my money if it isnt going to affect anything.

I dont have a CEL, I just dont think its as peppy as it was, and its cold idle/cold start kinda pisses me off

They are all dogs unless you put your foot down. It should do well with lots of gas, try it and see, if it is still slow you have problems.

You mean lots of gas in the tank ? Its quick, just not as smooth as I think it once was, the cold start and having to touch the gas to keep it alive pisses me off a little though as you cant just turn the key and start the car, you always got to be ready with your gas foot. Kind of inconvienient
