I was wondering last nite after I got off of here whether or not my KA24 would be good enough to race or if I needed a bigger engine. If anyone can tell me what to do to it to make it better, I would love that. If not, what type of engine could I get for fairly cheap that would be good to race?

The ka is good to race with. Mods will make it purr. Or you can throw in a V8 and it will roar! :icesangel

its not the size, its how modable it is. :) Honda has proven that time and time again.

The KA is a great motor all around, dont let anyone fool you or tell you otherwise. The only thing with the KA it is a stubborn motor, you must take extreme care of it, especially when boosted.

It can be great for straightline, especially when boosted. It can also be good for roadcoarses, since it can produce alot of torque.

I assume you are talking about street racing. The KA has been proven to put out impressive numbers. 400+hp with a turbo. You can probably get 200hp all motor out of it, but thatll cost you some money. There really isnt that many "bigger" engines out there to swap, without spending lots of money that is. Two popular swaps are the SR20DET (Silvia) and RB (Skyline) engines. The SR is cheaper, but has less displacement.

Sheesh, everyone forget about the CA18DET??? That is a good very capable engine to swap in also.

yes, yes we did. anyways, why do people insist on drag racing with the 240. It's capable of handling it's own, but its not the purpose of the car.

haha, when i read this, i thought "Cha cha cha chia!"

Talk to dauntt about his 200+hp motors, and see what he had done. for an all motor good racing engine, id say get a new intake, bigger throttle body, custom intake manifold, or just remove the secondary butterflys, bigger injectors, FPR, new cams, port and polish job on the head, bore it out and get some HC pistons, and finish with a header. and a new ECU. this should help get you in the 200hp range. no, the ricer combo I/H/E wont do it alone. get this done, and a new radiator, and new hi-flow water pump and oil pump and oil cooler and you should have a decent all motor road course car.

I think this car was designed with track racing in mind.

I dont think they had drag racing in mind when they built Civics either, but i see them racing every friday and saturday night. I would much rather drag the 240 than many other cars out there.

But I dont know eactly what this thing was designed for other than to make money. Perfectly balanced. Underpowered engine. looks preety good. It is like a jack of all trades and master of only one, drifting.

Everybody knows you cant race a s-chassis without an SR....

I once heard that eating the mushroom will make you bigger... :) Ask alice for some, and add 2 per tank and the KA will grow nicely hehehe

The KA is a good block, just give it some loving.

Also if you plan on hitting cones, you may want some time under you belt / in your seat, before going from GS / DSP / STS-X, before you FI / swap and be dumped into the feeding pool of SM.
