not a 100% on what u mean but usually its quality, a crappy filer with bad piping or a good flowing filter with a good design and for example nismo which is covered on ur warranty. As for the filter I meant something like a low quality ebay/walmart filter or a JWT piece that has R&D put into it.

One of the major differences is not really the intake pipe but the quality of the filter. Of course you would want either S/S or Aluminum Alloy but more has to do with the filtering.

K & N is considered to be a better quality unit which boast High Flow Filtering because of the charging system oil they use and its superior in dirt catching qualities while maintaining excellent back pressure

Donaldson make an incredible filter that is used in coal mines in the equipment that boast 10 micron filtering with even flow

AEM has Dryflow Oil-Free Air Filter systems

Good luck lots of choices out there to view. You can almost always go right with NAME BRANDS

The tubing fitment and filter are what is going to make the biggest difference which all falls under quality. Cheap stuff sometimes pay's off but you can neva go cheap with a intake
