Is 90-96 300zx's R200V differential and Q45's R200V differential the same?

Anyone try before? Are the cases identical? Please let me know. It's 4.08 ratio for the Z32 versus 3.69 for the Y33. Thank you.

I asked the same question awhile back and this is what I got:

But someone is working on swapping more than just the diff to make it fit. He seems pretty confident it will work. He said he's taking a bunch of photos and should have it done in a couple weeks. Gosh I hope it works out.

Thank you guys, for your reponses.I just ran out to my car to take a look at my Y33 differential. The rear cover looks like 300zx's. The output shafts has 5 bolts, just like the 300zx NA diff.Is this the sign that my prays have been answered? I'll take some pics and study the size and shape of my Y33 diff before making some trips to the junkyard this week. Wish me luck.

Also note how the unit attaches to the car, that was vastly different on the alleged Q diff I bought for my 91.

Are you saying that the mounting brackets are different even among the 90-96 Q?

The junkyard where I sourced my 91 Q diff swears up & down it was from a Q.

Even the studs on the diff where it bolted into the rear crossmember were totally different.

I couldn't tell you about 90-96, but there is a definate difference between 90-91 & 92-96.

Greg ran into this when installing his 4.08, the yoke bolt holes were slightly different, no biggie, but the one I had was a no go all the way around.

Maybe you can search better than I. I couldn't find the post, and I think AZ was the one who started it.

the q45 diff shares a housing that is quite close to the s13/14 differential, the only differnces are that the bolt length on the pinion gear (making the driveshaft flange about 1/4 farther forward), and the the rear cover is a little bit larger lenght wise to allow for the 3.5xx ratio ring gear. i am in the middle of swapping the ring and pinion gears to get the 3.5 ratio for my car for more top/gas mileage end and more useable acceleration in 1st through 3rd gear.if you have any other q's about it gimme a holla i have diffs sittin in my garage.Dane
