Hey,

I am seeking advice. I someone locally is selling an R33 RB25 for $800. The motorset includes turbo, p/s, a/c, alternator, all sensors, clutch, and a cut wiring harness. It is missing the ECU and the transmission. The turbo is in good condition, spins freely and has no shaft play. The overall engine is in good condition. I am just wondering if the harness being cut is going to become an issue. I plan on getting an RB20 transmission since I don't want to push the engine much past stock. Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Does it have the other half of the wiring harness with it? The part that has the ECU plug on it? You could just solder it all back together if you have time.

RB25 transmission will cost quite a bit, but RB20 should be more reasonable since they aren't in high demand. I'd say 800 is a good deal for a long block. Hell you could buy it and part it out for three times that amount.

No, it only has the engine side of the harness, not the ECU side.

$800 is a good deal.

Let me know when you are looking for the rest of those parts including the transmission.

To the OP:800 sounds like a pretty good deal to me.

And sorry to hijack but.

To coolwhip:Not sure if you were referring to the 20 trans or the 25 trans. But I am looking for a 25 trans if you have one.

Someone is also selling a rb25 near me relevtively same things included excpet he pulled the manifold and stuff off so it will need some new gaskets. I already have 3 rb20's, so like I really need another one but hell I'm thinking about offering $600 maybe even $500 b/c he says it needs to be rebuilt.

if i were doing this again. i would get a clip. i dont care how much more it costs. it will save you when it comes to your sanity. it will also save you ALOT of time. mine was incomplete. it took 2 years to get it running.

i also had a car with the motor and trans ripped out before i got it. never again will i do that either. worst possible scenario.

next time, its a full, COMPLETE clip. and a car in running condition when i take ownership.

it is annoying as hell trying to piece it together with random missing parts. cars too. most likely the guy who you're buying the "rolling chassis" from didnt know wtf they were doing when they were pulling the motor and lost/broke a bunch of stuff. think about it this way.. if they knew what they were doing they probably would've finished the job, not tried to pass it off on you. same with a motor thats been hacked up. if you're very familiar with the motor or car, then its not too bad. but if it's your first time it will add a lot of headache

Tell you what I have an rb20de that a guy wants the bottom end off of I could sell you the head off it.

I'm not completely sure of the differencnes between the det and de head. I've only heard the size of the valves, but it could be cams as well. I'll do some looking and you do as well and maybe we'll be able to help you out.
