Yesss...but Q45s don't burn any oil. Make sure you are on perfectly level ground. If that doesn't work try starting the car up for about 15 seconds and then check. Mine said it was low then somehow after a quick on and off it was at the proper full level.qship96 wrote:7 quarts is perfect for the 90-96 Q45...... 6 go in the engine and 1 goes in the trunk to be used throughout the oil change interval for top offs.Modified by qship96 at 4:57 PM 3/27/2008
Maybe for that little metrosexual convertible, but too much for a G50Jesda wrote:Including filter fill, just a tad under 7.
Same here.maxnix wrote:With drain and new filter, 6 qts exactly.
No, its a bit under 7 quarts. You pour a little into the filter prior to installation, then the rest into the crankcase.qship96 wrote:Maybe for that little metrosexual convertible, but too much for a G50
Oh snap! Sick burn.Jesda wrote:

I put this page together for your pleasure: http://www.q45.org/techinfo.htmlEngineOil SAE 10W-30 (API SG, SH & Energy Conserving II) With Oil Filter 6 3/8 qt Without Oil Filter 5 7/8 qt
I've got more than three years of Q45 driving, research, repair, and disassembly under my belt.
And previous threads also point to -just under seven quarts-. I've owned a Sentra, Maxima, two G50 Qs, and in addition took care of a G20 and 240. We both know plenty.qship96 wrote: Unfortunatly, manual stating 6&3/8 quarts was wrong, as has been discussed and proven here on this site over and over. 6.0000000000 quarts with new filter is the correct amount for the 90-96Q.3 years ownership makes you a Q toddler in my book, as I have been an infiniti owner since 1994 having personally driven and maintained over 350,000 miles in my G and Q, and a Nissan product only owner since 1979!
7 is slightly on the high side but not enough to cause any adverse effects. Filter size when using non-oem can also contribute to oil capacity variance.moshmoshi wrote:I put in 6 and seem a bit on the low side, and I don't want to put 1/2 moreand have the rest hanging around.
I would have to say that Drew is correct!! i put oil in my 93 Q for the first time after installing rebuilt transmission and motor and mine took exactly 7 quarts. I couldnt get ahold of a OEM when i needed it so i bought one from NAPPA, NOT BY CHOICE! The nappa filter was twice the size of oemoil filter. Another thing that could affect oil level is the metal tube that oil dipstick goes in, if its bent or out of whack or turned a little it will effectthe oil level, or if you install dipstick pointing wrong direction!DrewQ45 wrote:

very well put. cant argue with you at all on that one.most people dont take that into consideration! makes sense though.qship96 wrote:When one buys an old q that has had 3,4,5++???? owners over the last 10-15 years....one has to wonder if they even have the correct dipstick for the engine? If it takes more than 6 quarts to fill, sure would look to be absolutly positive you have the proper dipstick, as there are many slightly different lengths that all appear similar
