Hi, I live in TX and have a guy who will do an SR swap for $6500 total icluding custom hotpipe, downpipe, bov, fmic, but stock internals. The guy has done other work on my car, and has good experience with SR and 240. I've seen his 180 and other 240s that he's done and they are all tight and his customers are happy, but that seems kinda high though considering front clips are running $2-3k-ish (on the high side)??

Anyways, I'm looking at going SR, but want to make sure I don't get ripped on the deal, I trust the shop, but don't know if that's too much or not or if other NICO members in TX know of good and reliable shops to do the work.

All opinions and suggestions are appreciated, and whenever the KA gets to breaking something I want to go SR instead of dumping money on the KA (it's still running smooth for now though 138k mi). Thanks.

I would ask him how much he is charging for installation and the motor. Than you can price how much you can spend on parts and see if you can get everything cheaper or your getting ripped off. That's what I did.

I went to http://www.xatracing.com over here in Florida and here is there stage 2 package

SR20DET REDTOP stage 2 performance pkg includes: SR20DET red-top motor-set, GReddy 3" Downpipe, Greddy Turbo Timer, Greddy Profec B Spec II Boost Controller, Walbro 255 Fuel pump, Greddy type-s BOV and flange welded to hot pipe, 3" custom cat-back exhaust (choice of N1 style or drager style muffler), Greddy V-spec frount mount intercooler, Flex-A-Lite dual 12" electric fan, new small battery, all fluids, NGK plugs, working and charged a/c, power steering, and installation of motor and all parts. - $6000

So I feel like you might be getting ripped.

Yeah, could be, that's why I"m still in the "shopping" stage. Thanks for the detailed reply though so I can price some of the stuff out.

That seems a bit expensive to me. What specific components are you getting in this deal? Will your A/C & Power steering still work? What about fuel filter, plugs, wires, etc? What kind of FMIC will you get? Will it include electric fans? Boost controller? What engine are you getting swapped in? (S13 redtop, S13 blacktop, S14 blacktop, S15) Will you get an air filter kit? It won't be a bad deal if you're getting premium components. Also, be sure to get a dyno sheet at the end of it so you'll know exactly how much power you're putting down to the ground.

They did a very good job on my car. The AC works but I had to ghetto rig it since my AC wasn't working before they started. They let me help out and watch them. The engine was clean. The place looks sorta ghetto but they do good work. I would recommend them to anyone. No regrets other than getting a bigger turbo! They finished my swap in 2 days. Anymore questions about them just AIM: nnkfws333

Damn, I did all my stuff by myself for 5.5k in my garage. The whole list below in my sig minus the haltech was all for 5.5k. That includes my engine rebuild of new gaskets, bearings, rings etc.

lol, long time no see PalmerWMD :D

TXMike240: I know the owner at Silviawerks, he is a great guy and does some really nice work. If you are in houston, I would definitely go over to Katy and check them out.

BTW: if your KA is still running strong, I don't really see why it would just all of a sudden break. My friend here in town just went KA-T on a motor with only a few less miles than yours and it makes crazy horsepower and hasn't shown any reliability issues. I used to hate KA-T's but now I think that is what I should have done (but damn the single cam!!!)

Time to jack this thread ;X 6.8 for complete set up including FMIC, walbro pump, koyo radiator, custom downpipe, greddy exhaust, hks bov, hotpipe, clutch, new fluids, etc AND the labor. I think it sounds very good, but I could be completely wrong.

::edit:: S14 motor btw

I stand corrected

Here is the tentative list with prices(prices might change depending on part and brand). Please note that there might be more on labor depending on the actual work needed. Also there might be other parts that may be added, depending on what you're setup requires. Greddy FMIC $729Walboro fuel pump $110TF Catdelete downpipe $199Apexi intake $129Exedy Stage 2 Clutch $389Blitz hotpipe with Bov $315Apexi N1 exhaust $549S14 SR20DET Motorset complete $3200Install $1400 Total $7020 This is very basic parts needed to get the car running. We have most the parts instock, some might need to be ordered before the swap (3-4 days). We warranty everything that we do. We're very experieced with SR installs, and pride ourselves with doing cleanest installs. We also have many satisfied customer referrals as well.

from the e-mail reply I got. but the shop is no more than 20 min from my house, so very convenient and i have talked to people who have gotten work done from them and they all rave about it. Still, a fair price?
