Ok so i just had my SR20 put in by a local shop and they used 4 gauge wire for the positive wire running to the battery the ground is 0 or 2 gauge though..It seemed fine driving it home but will that have any prolonged effects on the battery or alternator?

Alright one more opinion my motor was send to me with a bad turbo i dont think its blown because it doesn't smoke at all just don't spool like its locked up and the company agreed to send me a new one once i send mine back but i live on long island and have to be in ohio this weekend and was going to drive it there does anyone think ill have any issues with that?

Not sure about the wire so I'll give you a bump for that.

As far as the turbo, when you try to boost any noise or nothing?

As long as its not screaming and you don't boost, accelerate slowly and shift before 3k you should be fine. Passing and quickly accelerating are gonna suck though. I drove on a blown turbo for a week till the new one arrived.

yeah there is no noise what so ever coming from it and the wire seems to be working fine so hopefully it stays that way...

Have you checked the turbo? Is the shaft seized or moving freely?

Just did a quick search on google and http://crx.honda-perf.org/arti....html this popped up. Writeup on battery relocation for a CRX, and he uses 4 gauge so you should be fine.

4 gauge is too thin. use 0 or 2 gauge. but make sure the wire inside is not too thick or too thin.

Depends on 2 things-

Type of wire and insulation temp rating. The inline battery fuse is 75amps http://www.houwire.com/product....html

4 gauge is the smallest i would go. As long as it is a good quality wire( braided copper) you should be fine.

Why would they do 4 gauge on the positive and 0 on the negative? It's a closed circuit. The current will either be limited by the 4 gauge wire, OR burn the 4 gauge wire.

Considering that fact that the ground is probably going straight to the chassis (lame method IMO), the positive should be the thicker wire. It will have higher resistance because of the length.

I don't remember what I used for mine. But I got it from Advanced auto.

4awg would be the smallest I would go.

You can calculate if it is good or not.Google it.I believe it's basically Peak amperage x Ft x Awg. It'll then tell you what each wire is rated for.

Thanks for the input i asked because i have heard mixed reviews in the whole what size wire to use even on here its been completely mixed. Some have said no smaller then 2awg and some use 4awg like they did on mine an have had no issues what so ever and so far it seems to be fine. Im gona pull the turbo off tomorrow and ship it off to be safe an prevent any other issues.
