is $3500 to much for an engine over haul!?

I took my car in for in for a check up and they told me i needed a new clutch and a transmission over haul cuz of some "wear" i am putting a stage 3 centerforce clutch in it tho "hell y not if im already changing the clutch!".... but i would like some opinions just to ease me off

Yes thats alot but getting a transmission rebuilt always is. FYI you can get a 98 spec transmission new with the stronger synchros for around 1800. The clutch to get replaced in a shop is usually around $800. It's something that could easily be done by you though if you wanted to.
