They're old and weren't designed like newer cars. It's going to be hard to find one in good condition and will take a lot of restoration.

Short answer: no.

Don't do that to a 240Z...do that to a 260Z, no one likes those anyway.

260Zs are rarer than 240Zs. Don't drift anything without an X in the name.

I heard they were the same chassis but the engine was awful. I could be wrong, however.

Compared to some other Japanese classics, there's a ton of S30's out there. I don't really see a reason not to drift an ol' S30, they're light, you have a large variety of swaps to choose from and there's a pretty big aftermarket for them. Now I'm not saying to go out and drift a really nice taken cared of clean example, go out and find yourself a rustbucket Z that's not entirely falling apart, put some life back into her and have fun.

Essentially. 260z was still S30, like the 240z, but the L26 had overheating problems.
280z was S30 as well. But the 280zx was S130.

If you drift either I will personally castrate you and your family, females too.
If you wanna be unique get a 510 wagon with a KA or sr swap. Paint it green, tub it, and rip it up.

The answer is yes, you could drift them. But the bigger question is whether you should. The 240z in particular is becoming collectible. why would you want to abuse the hell out of one of the fewer cars that might go up in value if you treat it well.

is 240z good for drifting? Ney, its good for restorations and storage in a nice cool dry garage! lol

Its going to be hard to find an s30 out there set up for drifting (as for inspiration) but even when you do its not going to be as good as any S-chassis. I mean the s30 chassis is strong for a car from the 70's but its still soft, but going with a 280z even an s130 wouldn't be too bad of an idea because the 280z had many new chassis reinforcements compared to the 240z and 260z. And the 280zx was a completely different car with much stronger chassis. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8g5eIVMfuas and if you surf youtube you will find many more 280zx drifting videos A) because its stiffer than the s30 and B) because zx's are crap and you can thrash them without feeling bad lol.

But as for engines forget the carbs and go with an L28et or go bastard with any V8.
