Is 2.5 inlet catback the best for NA KADE?

Information on the naturally-aspirated KA24E and KA24DE engines.

I am just looking for some catback exhaust for my NA powered 13(KA24DE) I am looking for real performance stuff. So Im just curious what size of piping should I get. From what I know a lot of people go with 2.5 inlet. But is that the BEST for performance? Suggestions please?

I have seen dynos showing the 3 inch shows nothing but gains. Although it's louder, it shows more gains than 2.5 inch. If you plan to turbo in the future, go 3inch. If not, then it's your choice, 2.5 or 3, not that loud or loud.

So if I go NA. 3" still has a higher gain than 2.5"? Well I dont care about how loud it is I just care about the performance. Thanks alot man. Any other suggestions?

Don't get one with the fake angle at the end. If you're gonna get one, make sure the angle at the end is functional. Don't get a 30 bend exhaust that goes up and over the differential and makes a 270 degree bend near the tip to get that angled look. 3 inch straight pipe with one bend in the whole exhaust works best.

Thanks man. So you mean only bend it when it gets to the muffler hole? Im going to get custom piping anyway. So it wont be a problem. But what if I want my muffler straight? Im going to get custom piping so the shape or whatever wont be a problem I just care about the performance.

2.5" is ideal for n/a. 3" is pointless on n/a, and if there are any gains, it really wouldnt be noticable while driving. you'll lose initial response with 3". Only go 3" if you plan on going turbo one day.

3" + turbo = buttery sechs

^ agreed. The 2.5 will allow for a higher exhaust velocity, which aids in the scavenging effect.

which = good

I have 2.5 on my SOHC and feels perfect, 3.00 might be a little too much unless you are running a turbo.....

I was thinking about using 2.5 too. Because I know 3" is for turbos or huge engines. But I just want to make sure. So I should also get the piping as straight as possible too right? For the air flow reason? Because performance is all I care about. Thanks a lot guys

3" has clearly shown better numbers on a stock n/a ka24e/de than 2.5", if you don't mind the noise, go 3", and straight as possible.

unless you know for sure that you'll be in the turbo crew eventually, then I'd go 3"

but...

if you're gonna stay n/a...

my vote goes for 2.5"

your 1 horsepower gain by going 3" isn't worth the loudness and the loss of throttle response... imo thats 2 cons of going 3".

even the best exhaust system that comes off the stock catalytic converter and goes to the stock tip area will have atleast 3 bends, one off the cat, one by the rear axle, and one right before the muffler..... although good systems have very minute bends and you can just barely tell the one by the muffler..........

if you can make a catback with 1 bend in it.. lets see it! Cause I hate bends myself

i can vouch that the 3" will drone like a *****...very loud. I actually use my silencer when i take longer trips because the exhaust gets old after 3 hours whatever size you choose, put a resonator in it while you're at it. Though mine is loud, its nice and deep because i have a long resonator g/l with your exhaust and post some pics when you get it installed

I put a 2.5" to a dual 2.5"

and it's more then loud enough for me.

I made it all my self...it shows. but I put a coat of high temp paint from eastwood, so really it will never rust. and it's black just like my car.

Here is the full set up...not painted. I put the same paint on the header
