My Altima is a recent casualty in the winter weather.the other night, after dropping off my son's GF at her home, my son and I were on our way home. It was icy out, so I gave my son (who has his learners permit) a quick ABS demo while stopping at a light that had just turned red (there was no one nearby). We were already slowed down to 10 mph as it was very icy. the ABS engaged and we slid nicely to a stop at the light. About 30 seconds later, while still stopped at the red light, we got rammed in the rear by a young woman a chevy who was drivng too fast for the conditions braked late. Since we were on ice, we rebounded forward, which probably lessened the damage. Thankfully she was insured. No injuries. Both cars were driveable, but her car sustained far more damage than the Alti.

The real irony came just after the cop finished his report, the salt truck drove by. Go figure.

Glad to hear you and your son are alright. What was the girl driving? The Altima's up for replacement soon anyway, right?

Thanks. She was driving a Monte Carlo.

The current plan is to give the Alti to my son as his first car and then get a new car for my wife. The Alti's got a lotta miles, but she still runs well, and looks good.

Glad to hear it wasn't serious! Accidents suck.

Wish my parents gave me a car when I started driving....

Ahhh, in that case, she owes you one. The car probably looks much better with the front end destroyed.

Glad to hear everyone is alright though!

LOL. I actually feel bad for her. Not because it was a Chevy, but it was her first accident, it was all her fault, and she was distraught. I also suspect the car belonged to her father.
