Update on Ipod Video integration. I have been spending a lot of time trying to perfect my Ipod video integration for my G37S and I thought an update on what I have found out might be helpful.

Setting Your Ipod

The most important thing I can tell anyone is - before you start, go to video settings on your Ipod and set it to “Video Out.”

1. 5th Generation IPOD

For the 5th Generation Video Ipod, you can connect from the earphone jack at the top of the Ipod or from the 30-pin plug at the bottom.

I believe that you don’t need the Apple Cables for the 5th Generation but can use any cable that fits. To connect from the top use these cables: Apple Cables http://store.apple.com/1-800-M...65G/B

OR

http://www.radioshack.com/prod...earch

To connect from the bottom use:

http://store.apple.com/1-800-M...9LL/A

This has a charger so you can connect your Ipod to the power supply in the center consul glove box with:

With the 5th Generation Ipod, you can use a remote as well like:

IJet -- http://www.theistore.com/ijet_..._id=0

OR

http://www.amazon.com/Maxell-P...r=1-2

OR

http://www.amazon.com/Scosche-...r=1-2

I have tried all of them and settled on the IJet.

(I have a problem using the top earphone jack that I have not been able to resolve. There is a whining noise when the charger is plugged in. I never had this problem with the 30-pin plug but none of the remotes work when I use the 30-pin Composite cables at the bottom. If anyone has a solution, please let me know what it is. I have tried everything.) 2. Classic, IPhone and Ipod Touch

For the Classic, IPhone and Ipod Touch, I believe you have to use the APPLE Ipod 30-pin Composite cable. This is because (1) the earphone jack for the Classic, IPhone and Ipod Touch does not include a video out (yellow); and (2) the APPLE Ipod 30-pin Composite cable has a chip in it that makes it work. Generic cables will not work because they do not have the chip.

The foregoing is what I have learned through trial and error. If anyone has a different experience, let me know.

I had a company down here in South Florida do it. I don't know how but it took no more than 30 minutes. It is great because it also frees up all of the greyed out navigation functions.

The only problem is that it tricks the car into thinking it is standing still so the navigation gets weirded out when you are moving. However, the hack has a toggle switch so the second you toggle it to off, the car "finds" itself and everything is OK.

The hack is well worth it but I don't know what they did.

The salesman who sold me my car told me I had to get a certain cable cut.

I was surprised, but he told me what to hit and what to turn off in order to spin my wheels and burn out, guess I had a cool salesman.

What about the dealership though? They wont care that you did that will they? I am going to lease, but buy out in the end, I already know

This is an update to my initial posting. As I mention in it, I had a terrible noise when I played the videos over the Ipod and charged at the same time while using the jack at the top of the Ipod. I worked out how to fix the noise. Actually my brother, an electronics/electrical genius, solved the problem for me. Just pull out the video cable slightly so it is not grounded. That solved the humming problem. It seems that the additional ground was picking up the noise from the charging. I think you can achieve the same result by unplugging the charger slightly so it is not grounded.

After I went nuts buying new cables reading every forum I could find where no one had a solution, I asked my brother who was at my house. He sat in the car and after listening for 30 seconds, pulled out the video RCA jack slightly and the noise went away completely.

Awesome. I have a friend with the same problem. It is in a Honda though. I'll have to give him that info. Thanks.
