Ipod Touch?

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

My iPhone works fine connected to the EX35's dock connector so I don't see any reason the iPod Touch wouldn't work fine as well.

Thanks for the pdf manual dividedhighw.

It looks like the Ipod Touch is not listed in the compatiblity list. But the Touch was launched last fall so maybe the manual has not been updated yet.Anyway I will try it by next Friday and let you guys know.

Thanks

My pleasure!

For some odd reason, the Canadian site only allows choosing manuals for cars pre-2007, plus the EX is not even listed as a model. But, that said, the manual from the US site seems to be exactly the same one I received in hardcopy.

I did see that your model wasn't listed, but I thought seeing the rest would give you some confidence, especially if you've had past models and know about some implied compatibilities. Since Mark reports that his iPhone works fine, there's every reason to be optimistic.

I'm considering getting an iPod Touch myself, so yes, please do check back and let us all know!

The iPhone isn't listed as being compatible and it works fine. The iPod Touch will work fine as well, I have ZERO doubts about that.

I'm betting it is compatible.. in testing my iPhone worked just fine, just said that an accessory was attached. The EX35 pulled up the entire library with no problems.. the iPhone / iPods all work with some of the same accessories, they also share how they recognize accessories, and considering the iPod Touch & the iPhone have many of the same hardware components I highly highly doubt it won't work. You can literally take some of the stock applications from an iPhone, copy them to an iPod Touch if it's jailbroken, and have it work, which I won't go into considering this isn't a Mac forum .

Look at it this way - grab an iPod Touch since you're going to get the car anyway. If it fails, return it and buy a classic or a nano. No harm done.

The EX35 does not support video through the iPod connector. The only way to watch iPod/iPhone video is via the appropriate iPod/iPhone video cable plugged into the EX35's A/V connections (also inside the center console).

I've successfully played video over the EX35's composite A/V inputs with both my 5th Gen iPod and my iPhone. You have to be sure to get the correct composite A/V cable:

http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1454

I've used the Apple Composite AV Cable (Dock Connector) with both my iPod and my iPhone. I've also used the iPod AV Cable (Headphone Jack) with my iPod. For the iPod, I had to be sure that I went into the appropriate video settings menu and turn ON TV Out.

Lastly, on the EX35, you have to select the appropriate input from the dash controls and the car must be stopped and in Park to display video over AV inputs.

Thanks, Mark. I'm a MAC User and I think I'll risk the $50 to see if I can get my Touch to work on video.

Applying the parking brake might be the ticket ... note the 4th bullet in the grey warning block on p.4-2 of the manual "Park the vehicle in a safe location and apply the parking brake to view the images on the front center display screen using devices connected to the auxiliary input jacks."

There's a similar message in the Quick Reference Guide, p.25 "You can view Videos on the central Display screen by disconnecting the interface cable and connecting an A/V cable from your iPod® to the auxiliary jacks in the center console. The vehicle must be stopped and the parking brake set. Individual settings for playback can be made by selecting Settings on the center Display Screen."

If you don't have the EX Quick Reference Guide, get it here:http://www.infiniti.com/pdf/te...G.pdf

oh really. I know in Toyotas you can disable that sensor attached to the parking brake so that it will allow video all the time.

I forgot about this draconian measure so I'll give it another try.

Does the car display mirror the phone display, or only output video when a movie or clip is played?

It would be nice to have it display the browser for web searches.
