Ipod Touch 3rd gen. - doesn't work with cable included with the 2009 Murano SL.

I plugged my new ipod touch into my 2009 Murano with thew cable included with the veh. I get a not able to charge message on the touch. BUt biggest issue is it doesn't play the music!Does anyone know if there is anything I could do to get the touch working? AN adapter, or new cable,,,etc??? Thanks for the help.

Mine did the same thing. While it still will not charge it (even though the owners manual says it should), I did figure out how to get it to play. Turn on your Ipod FIRST and have it playing music. Then, while it is still on playing the music, connect it to your Murano IPOD plug. It will work from that point the way it is supposed to. Every time you unplug it, you will have to do this to get it to work.

Thanks for the info. I'll give it a try. Thank God for this site. It sounds like a bunch of Murano owners are having trouble with with issue. It would be better if Nissan would just put USB port in the console in every Murano and we wouldn't have this issue.Just my humble opinion. Thanks again.....

The 3rd Gen Ipod and later, Iphone 3g and 3gs are now charged via USB only. The prior versions were charged by FireWire, which that pin formation has now been deleted on the later versions of these by Apple. They will not charge. There's no fix right now, sorry!I have second gen Ipod I use in my '09LE with adapter no problem. I have iphone 3g that will not work at all.I suggest getting a 2nd gen nano and use for incar use only for music. They're ridiculous cheap now anyways.I hear that on the '10 Murano they are thinking of including USB jack. That would solve the charging problem.

THERE IS A SOLUTION!!!

Here you go guys, this adapter will allow your newer generation iPhone and iPods to charge using your iPod Interface. Here is the link. You can purchase at Amazon.com for $24.95.http://scosche.com/products/productID/1667

Here are two other options as well:

Thanks for all your help. Charging isn't that big of an issue for me. Just charge it up take out to the Murano, charge in home. But biggest issue was not being able to play through the cable included in my 2009 Murano. One person gave me the solution to have the music running then plug it into the Murano AND that works!!! But it still would be nice to be able to drive and just click on the Itouch without having to fiddle with the cable etc... You can't change playlist files,,, safely you just can't drive and do that.If these adapter for charging allow the Itouch to be controlled correctly, being able to play music without having to do all the other steps, great. If anyone knows if the afapters work, please let me know. Thanks again,Laura

Once the IPod is hooked up, I can control everything through the stearing wheel controls (i.e skipping song, going back, forward etc) Is that what you are talking about not being able to do?
