I have a new 2010 Altima 2.5S with the upgraded sound system (Bose) and I want to buy a new iPod. The owner's manual lists compatibility with the following models: iPod 5th Generation version 1.2.1 and iPod Classic version 1.1.

My question: Will the newer iPods work? (Classic IPod 160 GB 7th generation)

Thanks

Thanks for the info. This is my first iPod and I'd like to know what equipment I need to properly connect with the Altima and also recharge when needed. Do you use the USB or just connect the cable to the Aux? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

It just uses the iPod USB cable, and it will charge your iPod and everything.

If you haven't purchased it already, I'd highly suggest one of the other iPods that are flash based, such as the nano or the touch. While the classics have a large storage capacity, they also use a spinning hard drive that is a moving part and they are much more fragile than a solid state device. Having worked in geek squad for a brief period in my life, I can say that 80-90% of the failed iPods I saw where the hard drive based models and everything the person had on there was just gone. If you need the space though then the classic is hard to beat.
