ipod question

hey guys.... so i just purchased an 06 m45 and abosuly love this car but i would like to hook my ipod to the radio and i found a few things just wondering if any one tryed one of thies

I know one member here got that thing on ebay but said his installation guy could not find a power lead that is referenced in the instructions, so he had it installed into where his SAT radio goes and it worked fine.

I emailed the guys who sell that thing on ebay and they swore to me that it works with the 06 M35 (i have one too and can't stand the fact that there's no aux jack in the stock receiver). However, those guys also mis-spelled their own email address in those auctions not to mention many other, simple words. Makes me very weary about paying almost 200 bucks for something that's not made by a known brand, and from people who request that ebay viewers should email them with any questions...then mis-spell their own email.

I'm in the same boat as you. I'm not sure whether to bite on it or not. I REALLY need ipod connectivity but if i was to spend 180 bucks on that and it didn't work I'd flip out. I'm going to do some more research before I buy one of these things (if i do at all). Gettin an ipod touch this weekend so i'm tempted just to get it now but i think it'd be better to look into it first...

ok so i finally got around to installing it and im pretty sure i hooked up the wrong harness, actually im not sure im going to call them tomorrow.. cause know nothing works radio wont come on screen is blank and none of the controls are responding.... OPS! i gotta take it to the dealer now

fixed it!! it took out the radio fuse under the hood by the battery its good now i just have to hook it all back up and see if it works

ok i figured it all out... took some time but the harness i got was put together backwards so i just wired it up correct and it works great!! i think its worth it cause now i can listen to my ipod and control it with my radio and it displays text

What is the sound quality like? I had a product installed last week and it plays so low that I have to turn up the volume to the max to really hear it. Even then it's not as loud as it should be. I have an XIAH-NS1 kit. The guy that installed it said that's normal because the sound is being channelled into a source (the XM connection) that it wasn't intended for. I don't know. I'm just curious if a different kit would make a difference. Something that installs directly to the head unit. I had a Kenwood kit installed on an old Q45 early this year and the sound quality was great so I now it's not the quality of the mp3's.

Has anyone else tried an ipod kit that doesn't result in very low volume playback?

sorry i never replied... basically the wires on the harness where put together wrong so i re wired it and it works great... and yes it sounded really low but i just grounded the black wire i believe the #20 pin and works great!! i do notice it doesn't sound %100 but i think it might be the MP3 because some songs sound good and some sound bad but its the best mod iv done yet for sure!
