I want to keep my factory radio and be able to hook up my Ipod to it without using one of those that plug into the cigarette lighter and tune through the radio.

Does anyone know if this is possible?

if you have the stereo that has the casette player (my BOSE one has it), you can hook up a CASETTE-to-IPOD adapter.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Macall...0C2L0

however, there will be some static noise in the background (small but noticeable. not a HUGE problem).

Try I-simple. Kit comes complete with all wiring and harnesses and only requires you take out the radio, plug in the harness in the back and reinstall radio-allows Ipod to charge while playing. Check out ebay for these. That is where I got mine from and it works well-allows you to control Ipod with radio controls.

I don't have a casette player in mine but the Isimple looks like a good kit. Will it plug into our factory radio though?

This caught my attention since I'm also looking for an iPod solution that will let me keep the stock radio, but fix the static that I've experienced in all the iPod transmitters I've tried, some more than others.

I ran through all the installed products on the iSimple site and the only one that fits the Z is this one. It does require an antenna adapter but all the other installed products from iSimple come up with this when I check them through the vehicle compatibility link:

"We're Sorry. No iSimple Kit available for that Make, Model, and Year. Please try another search...Or you may find a solution for your Vehicle here"

Which forwards me here.

Maybe check with Broadfield (NICO member) as he's one of the big car audio & electronics experts on here.

I have seen a really cool idea where people use their cassette slot as a ipod dock and have the cable from some type of ipod hardware like the isimple in the back so that you can slide your ipod in there and have it connect directly to your radio. then you use your radio controls to control you ipod.

I went to Walmart and got a cheap cigarette lighter one. It was ok, but you had to find a station that didn't work and it was a little staticky.

I have an '06 Z with the bose unit-instructions very straight forward. Takes 15 minutes to install once radio is out and that includes putting radio back in-it is plug and play without any cutting. Steering wheel controls work with it as well. bought it on ebay. Check out elektech.com.
