Hey I just installed this thing on my car (2006 M45) a couple of days ago and it was very simple to install- it was truly plug and play. I did have to call their customer service because the radio was not detecting the Ipod at the beginning but they explained everything to me and I got the radio to detect it. THIS DEVICE IS NOT WORTH THE MONEY imo. Once you install it you will notice that it doesnt sound half as loud as the CD or the radio stations on the radio. I had to have the volume turned up all the way up in order to be able to enjoy the music and at that point I get frustrated if it's a real good song I want to jam to, and I cant go any louder on the stero. Plus the controls are very akward, you cant skip a song with the regular buttons on the radio or the steering wheel, matter of fact if you press one of those buttons intuitively as I was doing at the beginning (I still do it, tho less often) you will be taken out of "Ipod" mode and go onto regular radio. You have to control the Ipod with the "tune/folder" button and you will have to select with the "back" button, this is very weird but you will get used to it. Also the Isimple only uses 2 lines out of the whole screen, so you dont get to see what song/artist/genre or whatever you're scrolling to, you just see whatever is on the screen a that moment. Hopefully it will work better for your 2003 but for the 06+ this is a a piece of crap IMO. I would've never bought this for my car had I known about all these issues. What bothers me the most is the scrolling to get to an artist and then album, it takes forever plus is annoying. If you have an Ipod nano or you dont have a lot of music on your Ipod this probably wont bother you. Then the loudness issue, I hate it, especially when you accidentaly hit the song forward button to skip a song and it jumps to radio and it's super loud in your car for that second. The controls, you will get used to. I'm seriously considering selling that thing and just keep my Ipod plugged in through the AUX in the back of the armrest. Hope it's different for your 2003 tho.infinitedrift wrote:Allright Nico, Has anyone ever tried this product http://isimplesolutions.com/ipod-adapter/GateWay.asp . If not I guess I will be the test dummy. I am having this installed on Saturday, the installer stated this sounds just like cd quality. It still comes from the radio, but supposedly it has a signal canceler in the system to get rid of all that white noise. Ill will report back the findings on saturday. This may be the end all of splicing...i hopeI have also tried the ipod mod but realized my tape player did not work at all, so the mod was worthless. Recently orderd a new one thru car-parts.com for $50 great site.
This is the customer service # from Isimple: 1-866-788-4237 I was on hold for a good couple of minutes but they were pretty helpful.infinitedrift wrote:I actually emailed USAspec but they never emailed me back(contact is email only). I asked them if they make a application for ours cars or atleast one that's universal. You have more information on this company?
In my personal opinion, it's not that the sound quality is bad, it's just that it's too low. I actually think that it sounds pretty good, and there's no ecstatic noise but it's not enough to compensate for the lack of volume.riggz wrote:The USAspec model got better reviews.
This iSimple and Grom both have poor audio quality. Been a few threads here in recent months on both.
You might still like it man. I'm sure there's people that love it and dont mind the shortcomings.infinitedrift wrote:This product recieved 4.3 out of 5 stars from 29 bestbuy reveiwers so I thought it was pretty good product, the only complaint was the controls.
If you're getting it installed at best buy, I know they unistall head units free of charge if you are going to sell or trade in the car. I dont know about devices such as this, but it's really very simple and I recommend doing it yourself and calling their customer service If you can't get the radio to detect it.infinitedrift wrote:I hope its different for the 03-04. I wonder if I dont like it could they uninstall it free of charge. Im sure it 's plug and play, but I just want the warranty from them if something happens to it.
It works great in a 06 m35. It is great that it charges the phone amd sounds great. Plus the install is really easy.riggz wrote:jayfox911 on this forum installed the PA15-NIS by USA-Spec. They also make a PA15-INFI. I believe the only difference is that the NIS will plug into the back of the headunit while the INFI plugs into the amp in the trunk.
Definitely better than nothng, I'll give them that much... but in my case, since I have the aux on the back of the armrest:infinitedrift wrote:Thanks guys, I guess this is better than nothing...
Though I only paid $117 shipped and istalled it myself, so cant complain too much I guess.msvara wrote:$200 for a radio based solution is a ripoff IMO...
infinitedrift wrote:OMG...I waited in line at Bestbuy for 2 hours waiting for them to open since it is first come, first serve on saturdays. The install door finally opens at 10am and the installer said they were all sold out of the isimple kits, which last week they had at least 50 units when I called. Dude, what a waste of time. You guys are right, im just going to buy it and install it myself, @%$% it. Problem is trying to find it in stores, I know there online but im that "need it right now" type of guy. If not in my hands by monday, i will hit the web.
If it wasn't for bad luck, I wouldn't have any luck:(... story of my life...lolol
How's the controls?? How about the display on the screen?IlyaKol wrote:USA Spec. PA15-NIS (for those who are sat ready but don't have sat). Period.
Just installed mine and through my POS Grom Audio in the trash. WOW. This thing sounds AWESOME. I'd say it is louder at 50% than the CD is. EPIC sound.
Right... can you please elaborate a lil' bit.IlyaKol wrote:Both are good.
Ok...IlyaKol wrote:I'll make a video tomorrow and post it up.
IlyaKol wrote:Infiniti, see my thread on how to install the Grom Audio box in the FAQ thread. That'll show you how to remove the radio.
As for the iPod, follow those same directions, but install a PA15-NIS when you're back there. I LOVE THIS THING. So much better than the Grom Audio POS.
