The play mode keeps defaulting to "repeat track" and the display keeps defaulting to track number (like 12/500) rather than song title. Am I missing something?
Thanks,
Steve

You are not missing anything. The radio resets the iPod options when the car's power is cycled completely

I've gotten used to it. Kind of pain, especially when you get gas, and have it playing without shutting the car off, and then as soon as you start the car, it resets.

On the other hand, the iPod interface DOES work, it sees all playlists, it allows you to choose songs, etc... all while storing your iPod safely away in a velour lined box in the dash. So be happy for that much from Nissan.

Is it the best? No. Does it get the job done for basic functions? Yes.

Where did you get the cable? I just purchased a Versa SL w/CVT and there was no iPod interface cable included. The salesperson insisted this was something I needed to buy at Radio Shack and I was like, no way does RS have this kind of cable. So I've spent forever trying to find this cable online and think this is what I need.

Part # 284H2-1BA0B
HARN-AUX-A
Sold here: http://www.courtesyparts.com/harn-aux-p-585938.html

I tried to get Nissan to buy this cable in the parts dept and they cannot find it. Did anybody else get this cable when they bought their 2010 SL?

2010 SL hatchback here bought a couple months ago and the cable comes with it from Nissan for sure. It was in a ziplock type bag that came with all the owners manual stuff. Your dealer is screwing you.

Thanks for that info Steve. I'm heading to the dealer tomorrow to make sure I get it.

I looked through my stuff trying to find the part number or bag it came in to help you but I wasn't able to find it. It comes with the car though.

I don't have any of this, but this may be what you are talking about?

INTERFACE SYSTEM FOR iPod
Interface System for iPod 999U7-ST000 1.8SL w/XM Sat Radio (A10)
Interface Harness 999U7-VT000 Required for Install

It's listed on the accessory guide, so it may not be a freebie from the dealer?

My cable also came with the car when I bought it.

It is a proprietary cable, the end that plugs into the interface in the top box I think is some kind of Molex connector, and the other end is the iPod dock connector.

But yeah = you should get it for free with the car from the dealer on the '10 models.

I do not think it was offered on the 09 models.

I was told it was extra.

Notice how it mentions the interface harness for install - THAT is already installed on the 2010 SL in the top compartment. If you see a little panel that says "ipod" with a door that pops off, it's already installed. The cable plugs into that. in the 2010 since it is preinstalled they give you the cable for free.

I assume that on lower models if you buy the upgraded radio, they need to install those pieces. The cable is a different part -as noted by elitrak.

I was able to get the correct cable from the dealer. They had to steal it out of another new car. Too bad for the guy who buys that one. But I got mine :-)

So here is the cable part number for those who may need to find this.

HARN-AUX AUDIO SYSTEM
NISSAN 284H2-ZT50A

This was for the 2010 SL with the iPod integration already included. This cable plugs into the compartment directly above the radio. As was mentioned above, it's not a perfect integration, but it satisfies my needs. It charges my ipod and pauses playback when I receive a call via bluetooth.

Cool, man. I mean it does see the playlists, it will shuffle all the songs or the songs on a particular playlist. I was surprised because it even sees the genres and the podcasts too.

Honestly my biggest problem with it is only one line of info on the display. But it works!

Anyone having problems getting a 2nd Gen iTouch to connect? We're having a spotty issue with this. The iTouch itself says it is connected, but the stereo says, "iPod not connected". Dealership is clueless and no help at all. We did finally get them to give us a new cable, but the problem returned after about 5 uses.

It's not Nissan's fault for any of the issues you are having - it's Apple's. When they update the firmware - it can mess with the way other devices talk to it. As an example, my 4G touch won't even work with a Specktone home speaker system dock we have.

For the Touch - I have found that sometimes it isn't recognized on the first try, but often the second time works. This happens especially after I have done a sync to the PC and the iPod piece of the device hasn't been running. I have also found that if you start playing a song, and then pause, and THEN plug it in - it's seen first time, every time. If I shut the car off, leaving the iPod in the car and then get back in again - it fires up right away because the iPod music playing software piece of the OS has just been running. Same thing if I even remove it, use it for other stuff, and then put it back. As long as the iPod piece that plays audio is active - the Nissan interface finds it right away - the Nissan interface is looking for the actual iPod music playing software service to be running on the device right away, and when it's not, it throws it for a loop.

The reason I think this also - is that my wife has an iPod Classic - which does nothing but play music. It gets seen every time without fail.

Hope that helps explain it. Nothing Nissan does is going to help. The Nissan interface is relatively simple about what it wants. It wants to see an iPod that plays music, and if that piece isn't running, it ditches out. By the way - this is partially Apple's fault - because when an accessory is plugged in that is supposed to access the music player - the OS should fire it up, but it often doesn't.
