Don't forget that the Altima Coupe has a standard auxillary audio input, just get a male-to-male mini RCA cable and plug the iPod directly into the front of the stereo. You'll have to control the iPod directly from the iPod instead of through the stereo or the steering wheel controls, but it's better than spending $225.

What you have described is the most basic of connections.

As you noted you will not be able to control the IPOD through the factory radio - this would come in handy say if yo have the ipod stashed in your glovebox or some other hidden place.

The standard audio input - will not charge the IPOD which is one reason many folks install IPOD harnesses on their radio. Comes in handy on long road trips etc.

Another option is to get an iPod dock, like the one I have shown here:

Not only does this charge the iPod, but it puts it at a place where you can easily reach it to change songs. Sure, it's not quite as convenient as being able to change songs from the steering wheel, but it only costs $60, and for the savings of $150+, I'm willing to reach that extra 30cm.

So there are a couple of options. I would double check compatibility - I wouldn't just go off of forum opinion.

My set up cost about $145. Plug and Play into the back of the radio using the Satelitte button for access. Installation is totally hidden and IPOD cable is routed through the armrest - this is great because I can leave the ipod connected-hidden from view. I hit my playlist, tuck the ipod into the armrest and roll out.

My option involved me installing the unit myself (took about 2-3 hours and i had to do it twice). If I had to pay for installation I would not have done it.

Can't argue against that. So I guess the main questions are do you need an ipod charger in your car. and do you need control from the factory radio - if you don't need either - then the cable above will suit you..

I guess if you got money to spend, then getting one of these Ipod connection kits is alright. I think that even $145 is too much to spend. You might show a wire or two, but its hella cheaper!
