Hey, long time lurker, first time poster.

I'm a BMW guy at heart, but have been driving the family 02 QX4 lately (I take it to school).

I'm sick of the bad reception from my iPod through an FM transmitter or even worse the tape adapter. Being that my family owns an E39 and an X5 BMW, I found this article on a BMW E39 modding page: http://bmwtips.com/tipsntricks...s.htm

Has anyone ever tried something like this on a Nissan/Infiniti? I want to do it, but I'd rather see if someone has tried it first. I'm not willing to lose my in-dash changer capability.

Any thoughts/responses would be appreciated.

~Ryan

WELCOME!

I think this has actually been recently discussed... but why do that?

There are many plug & play options (if you have an aftermarket radio that is).

But even then, you can just basically use that link (pretty good w/ teh pictures), and apply that idea to any car w/ a couple modules.

If you have a cassette player, they have mods that are directly from ipod-> cassette adapter like the oldschool cd ones you can use.

If you feel a lil more ambitious, there are systems like the iPod TransPod 2, which not only supports FM output (degrades quality a bit), but also hardwired connection -> RCA if you have it. You can combine that w/ the extra modules in that link if you don't have AUX input on your stereo.

Good luck!

See I don't want the adapter loses bass, and some of my music won't play. And I have an iTrip and I HATE IT.

I think I just may cave and grab a 2004 radio off ebay with the built in AUX

There are NISS/BOSE AuxIn devices you can buy *supposed* to work with units from ~97 and up.

FWIW, it's somewhat illogical to not want the cassette adapter due to loss of any musical component whilst using an iPod?!?!

Actually while searching through Crutchfield I found a hardwired FM modulator, meaning its wired into the antenna and turns a station into an AUX input so to speak.

And Rex, all the AUX inputs I've seen say you will lose changer capability and I'm not willing to lose the CD player
