I tried the Freshalloy iPod install today, but I used the 30 pin iPhone 4 connector because I wanted to charge while listening. Pin 72 in one the harnesses has +12V switched to accessory setting on the ignition. I tapped into that wire, ran it to a 7805 voltage regulator, then connected the red wire in the iPod cable to it. The ground wire was of course grounded to the body. And presto - the iPhone charges.
However, I have no audio. It seems like I didn't trick the "tape in" sensor well enough as after it tries one direction, then the other, I get the message on the display about tape not inserted. But is the audio input triggered only when the tape is "running" - so it would be normal that I have no audio while the tape is going through its sensing?
Thanks.
