I have a 2007 G35 and it has Auxiliary Inputs in the console storage bin. RCA's for audio and video.

I want know if it's safe to hook up an iPod by just using one of those mini-plug to RCA cables that's plugged into the headphone jack of the iPod and then the RCA jacks in the bin.

Has anyone done this successfully? My weak understanding of electronics makes me think there's be an impendence miss-match as RCA's are usually low voltage inputs and headphone jacks are somewhat higher.

If this doesn't work, what are people doing to make it work? I just want audio to work, I'm not interested in the video.

Thanks,

tje

I have a 2007 G35 and use this:

Plugs into the headphone jack of the ipod, lets you listen to audio while driving, if you are parked with emergency brake you can watch video. Hope this helps.

i suggest you skip the headphone jack, and use the ipod dock plug (far better sound and a line level output)

wish I could find the one i bought, had a charger and audio plugbut to get an idea

or just go to ebay and search Ipod Dock To 3.5MM there are dozens of them

Yes, you could do it. I've done this with my shelf stereos with my iPod and laptop without a problem. I drove a loaner 07 sedan, found the RCAs there and grabbed my mini-to-RCA and it worked fine.
