iPod adaptor harness

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

Hi all,

I basically bought my EX35 bone stock. I have an iPod Classic and bought some A/V cables to listen to it through the car stereo. However, when I use this option, no info shows up on the car's screen and I cant use the stereo controls to use the ipod. I basically run everything through the Ipod itself. My question is, is this the right adaptor harness to purchase and install so that I can use the iPod through the car's stereo controls?

or can I go to the dealer and have it installed by them?

thanks!

Hey there and Welcome to NICO!

In most EXs there is a connector inside the center console as Punjab had mentioned. There is a cable that is usually supplied with the new vehicle. I am not 100% sure about the optional features of this model. I recommend checking inside the console and see if there is a small plug on the front wall of the box. If there is not one there then you do not have Ipod connectivity available.

If that is the case there are several things that you can add to get your Ipod to work but you will not be able to control it through the factory radio.

is this plug next to the A/V input ports or are they somewhere else? I was looking on another forum and some people did it on a Nissan Murano and I was wondering if the EX35 was the same sort of deal

here http://forums.ipodlounge.com/s...issan they make it seem like the harness attaches to a converter box under or behind a seat

There are two connections inside the console. 1 is for use with the ipod (I have an Ipod Touch) -it comes with the car and allows you to use the screen to make your selections- audio only. ( I have a journey, with Nav) There's also another set of connections that you need to buy the component cables from Apple ($50)that will allow to watch video under the prescribed conditions (stopped with brake on) The first described connection appears as "ipod" the second connection works through "aux". Hope this helpsI have used both connections and they work well with limitations as described in other posts

The adapter you linked is for certain Infiniti vehicles with the Sat radio option. If you're model has the SAT option, then the adapter might work. But how well it works is an unknown to most of us. Most of us purchased models with the Premium Option and that option includes an entirely different iPod Interface.

My "gut" is telling me that a "Bone Stock" EX35 doesn't have the necessary electronics to add an iPod interface. At least, not Infiniti's iPod Interface.

Good luck!

Can someone validate this? I too would like to upgrade my bare bones EX to use my iPod on the sound systems control.

I have an OEM Nissan iPod interface and harness for sale. It is off my 08 Altima Coupe. You can control your iPod on your stereo and wheel mount buttons. I'm not sure if it is the correct harness for the EX though.

Interface: 999U7-ST002Harness: 999U7-VT000

Both for $200.
