I was wondering if anyone know if Nissan is going to release a iPod adaptor that will allow the stock radio to control a iPOD. I know that the stock radio has a AUX input, but like the FIT, and other Nissan Radios they have a iPOD adaptor which allows the stereo to control as well as charge the battery...

I read that Apple is continually working with car manufacturers to develop an iPod connector that will plug in to the factory stereo so that you can control the iPod (more or less) through the stereo controls, as well as charge the iPod while connected.

Most applications I have seen for other car manufacturers require that you disconnect the CD or the satellite radio (if your car is prewired for it), so be prepared to lose either one of those functionalities.

It's been a slow process, but with the popularity of iPods, it's inevitable.

You might be able to find an aftermarket connector, such as Ice Link Plus or iPod2Car, although I don't know if they have any available that are compatible with Nissan. If they are, they will probably work the same way as one developed by Nissan.

I hope it isn't bad form to resurrect old topics, but I'm wondering if anyone has found a good iPod solution for the Versa. Most of the Versa's competitors have fairly good iPod connectivity, but the Versa only allows for an aux input to the stereo. That does work, but it would be great to know that there are more complete solutions available.

I too am looking at this... Google turned this up...

Quote »Ben I read on another forum that the Fosgate radios in the NIssan control the iPODS, all it take is a adaptor that plugs in behind the radio. Since the radio in the Versa SL has all the same 'controls' as last years Fosgate radios I was just wondering if Nissan has a adaptor too.

This quote is from Fresh AlloyThe upgraded audio system comprises of a Rockford Fosgate branded head unit (est. 100 watts), integrated satellite radio controls, MP3/WMA capable , in dash 6-disc CD Player, subwoofer speaker, and auxiliary input for iPod or other audio player. It's too bad Nissan didn't spring for true iPod integration.[/quote]We are still looking to see if there are any ready made adaptor. I use an iTrip2 on all my cars, it works quite well. even around the Washington DC Metro area.
