IPod adaptor does not charge IPOD?

Anyone know if the Ipod adaptor is supposed to charge the IPOD mine does not? Every cheapo Ipod interface charges the IPOD while in use, I do not understand why my Infiniti adaptor does not charge. This seems wrong!

Short answer Apple is to blame newer ipods and iphones no longer use fire wire port to charge (this was the way that older ipods charged to isolate noise from usb side of interface. their is an adapter you can buy to correct this..

Thanks for the info: I already ordered the adaptor. Seems pretty amazing that a car marketed as one of the most technically advanced automobiles on the market today would require it's drivers to purchase a USED Ipod!! My Ipod is about 1.5 yrs old anyway, in Ipod terms that is pretty old. Honestly, I cannot believe they would use the old technology. I will let you know how the adaptor works, silly as it is.

Which adapter did you order fellow Wisconsinite? I believe there are two or three different ones out there that Nissan/Infiniti suggests.
