Has any one on here ran their car on a real dyno and the iPhone dyno? Were the numbers close? And where did you mount it in your 240? And does anyone know if launching messes with the numbers? I keep trying it and I'm getting low numbers because my car won't hook up and my phone pops out of the ash tray. I guess I have too much for the accelarometer to handle *cough cough*

repost, search it

but yeah ive used it. its a really cool program, just make sure the iphone is completely stable. if it is moving around at all inside the car the numbers will be skewed.

first run, with my friend holding the phone in the passenger seat,my ka24de had 210 hp

once you can find a good way to mount it. it is actually very accurate, you do however need to weigh you car. unless its stock, then use the factory curb wight. have fun

I know the 13$ one is very accurate but I have the free pocket dyno. It has a count down and it mesures all kinds of crap. I have never put my car on a real dyno tho.

I haven't taken the time to make runs with my Gtech yet (it's hard to find a long flat surface that that I can make 10 runs on without being arrested and beaten by the Police) , but I have a true dyno run to compare it to.

As for launch- Gtech recomends a soft launch and a short shift to 2nd. It pulls it's figures from the second gear run. It will most likely be lower than true dyno because of rolling and wind resistance. I believe it is something like 3 HP loss for every 15 MPH because of drag. The optimal gear to pull a dyno on is 4th due to it's 1/1 ratio. But because of legallity and massive drag, in-car dynoes can't do that. But the G-tech, which is proven to be pretty accurate, needs car weight and suspension shift dialed in for optimum results.Best way to tune it is by using it during a complete 1/4 official run. That way you can dial in the variables by how much it is off from your time slip.

They also recommend a true flat running surface and running 5 times in each direction to get a more accurate average.

In other words, plopping your iphone on your dash and making one run is about accurate as putting a wet finger out the window to measure wind speed.

I bought Dynolicious the first day I got my iPod Touch but I soon realized that there is literally NOWHERE in which I can run a 1/4 mile safely. No drag strips. No flat expanses of road. Nothing.
