iPhone interfacing with car. Calls disconnect when I press "off hook" (answer) button on steering wheel

I noticed that when someone calls me on my iPhone 5s the car's display (Nav system) shows the caller ID, as expected, but when I press the "answer call" button, the call is disconnected/dropped. This has been going on for a couple of weeks now. My iPhone-Infiniti system used to work nicely together, now it disconnects every time I press the phone answer button on the steering wheel rather than answer call.

There have been a couple of iPhone software updates lately. Maybe one of those caused this problem.

Has anyone else had this problem?

Umm...I think you just hit the enter button to answer the calls. That's how I answer with my Android. The button you're pushing on the steering wheel (phone icon with some lines I believe) is the button you would use to start a call or open the phone book. On an incoming call, you just push enter because "answer" is already highlighted on your screen. When you push the button, does it go to the voice prompt menu?

I use the enter button, as well.

Sorry - I'm talking about hitting the "Enter" button to answer the phone too.

When the phone rings, it comes up on the display with a couple of choices (like "Answer" and I think "Ignore". I need to look again). But the "Answer" choice is highlighted, so I hit "Enter" and then the call is disconnected.

Now I don't get that many calls in my car, so its been a while since I saw that screen - but I know at least the last three calls from my wife where disconnected. It used to work. Probably a setting or update to my iPhone changed something.. Seems like Apple pushes a phone update once a week now.

I have the same issue since I got a iPhone 7. My 5s didn't have that issue.

With the 7, I would not be surprised. That phone is 5 years newer than you car and likely has a much newer version of BT. For the 5s, I'm not sure, but could be update related as well.

Anyone with an iPhone 7 NOT have this issue?

I was contemplating jumping ship after the debacle with the Note 7 but won't if they don't work properly in our cars

Does the navigation update also update firmware for the phone interface and may include fixes for these things. Maybe we can post navigation versions to see if there is some kind of coloration?

I have a 2012 M hybrid with the same issue. I was just getting service at the dealer and they looked through a bunch of service bulletins and told me the fix involves upgrading the firmware on the nav system but also that they need to replace some components like the microphone and they can't just flash the firmware for me. Quoted me over 400 bucks to do it. I am also curious if firmware upgrades come with the new maps. My maps are original to the car.

I should also add that this is an issue with ios10 and not any specific iPhone. Mine is a 6s. Original ios10 broke everything except making calls. With 10.1 I regained some functions like Bluetooth streaming, but picking up calls has a success rate of maybe 20% still.

New maps do NOT upgrade the firmware.

Mine seems to answer now, but while talking at times it will cut the audio coming from the other end. Person can still hear me but I can't hear them.

Ok so I got some digging done and made an appointment with my dealer for next weekend. According to Infiniti Bluetooth Customer Service Representative (didn't know there was one) the service bulletin ITB12-054b specifically addresses this problem (with dropping calls). Now, I could only find the previous version online ITB12-054a and, when you read it, it mainly addresses other NAV issues. However according to the Bluetooth support person I spoke with, the version '.....b' of the ITB was specifically addressing iOS 10 call dropping issues.

There's another service bulletin ITB-12-62b which I believe one of the previous posters commented about. This one addresses poor sound quality via Bluetooth. This one also replaces the microphone.

We shall see....

I'm glad they at least have a ITB for you guys. Hopefully your issue is solved at not too great an expense.

 I've got an 2011 m37 and an iPhone 6. I've had connection problems since day 1, so the "Bluetooth" is virtually useless. I'd be interested if anyone pays for the firmware upgrade and is happy...my maps are also original and useless as well. So my screen is currently a fancy mileage indicator. I've been contemplating upgrading the maps, but I know that won't fix the connection issues

I don't have the dropped call issue. However, I have a problem where my iPhone 7S has issues with choppy audio when using blutooth for Pandora or anything else. It is so annoying trying to listen to a song and the audio keeps cutting in and out. I didn't have that problem with my Note 5 that I just traded in two months ago. My wife has the same issue with her S7 Edge when connected to blutooth. Anyone know what the issue is or if there is a fix for it?

Well, I'd like to post up a warning for those who may want to try to get an update for the Bluetooth/Phone issues. I got a call that during the update my infotainment Froze up just before I was suppose to pick up the car Saturday. No problem, got a nice weekend with a QX80 rental. Except today I got another call that my radio unit is shot/frozen and needs to be replaced. New unit is $5,500 plus installation, Ugh, say again??

Well, I gave them a car with a working unit and they broke it. The Elite will be picking up the replacement cost but what if I didn't have the warranty????? Knowing how dealerships operate I would have an ugly battle on the horizon to not be out some $$$ at the end. Dealership Service outfits, contrary to their name are not in business of customer service but rather in making money business. But that's for another discussion....

Now I'm getting nervous as my dashboard will be disassembled to some degree to install the new radio and that's never good....TBC

just an update....Got the car back with a new radio and the streaming still doesn't work, most of the time. Looks like the phone issues have been fixed (so far at least). Made another appointment for next weekend, but the way it's looking I might just have to suck it up and plug in the damn phone to play music...

Had a iPhone 6s and now a 7. Never had any issues with calls or music in my 13' m37. A few lags on connnecting sometimes but nothing toggling the BT on the phone off/on doesn't fix

I have the IPhone 6s plus, I've had issues with this in my 2010 G37xS and also in the M56xS. It drives me up the wall. Sometimes after the initial answer I can't hear anything then out of the blue it comes to life.

I was poking fun too soon. Updated my Nexus 6P to Nougat (7.1.1) and now, although answering works, etc. it sometimes won't respond to the 'hang up' command and sometimes people can't hear me...not sure if it's my car or the phone. I have yet to do any real troubleshooting but this definitely wasn't happening on 6.0.1. Might need to remove from the car and re-add (the BT connection).

I hope so, I have 10.2.1 on mine

I'll be downloading it when I get home. I hope that fixes the problem.
