I have a 2006 M35x w/Advanced Technology Package and I just got an iPhone 3G. Is there any way I can listen to music on my iPhone over my car's speakers?

Ok, so I went to Walmart and pick up a $5 RCA stereo cable like this one...

http://www.walmart.com/catalog...84433

-I plugged the white and red plugs into the corresponding jacks on the back of the center consule, and plugged the other end into the headphone jack on the iPhone.-Started the car, and turned the stereo on. Then I pushed the "Disc" button on the controls, until in went to "DVD". At that screen it had an option of AUX in the lower left hand corner. I clicked on that and BINGO!! I was playing music from my iPhone over my car speakers.Pros: Quick, Cheap, SimpleCons: Doesn't charge iPhone, Is an eyesore for back seat passengers

Now, I'm thinking about buying an Apple Component AV Cable...

And then getting something that would convert from 12v outlet to a USB power outlet. And then plug the USB connector of the AV Cable into the 12v to USB converter.

Does any body think a contraption like that would work (e.g. charge iPhone, plus allow audio and video)???

last I heard the power surge from turning the car on was frying IPods some of the time when doing that. You will just have to remember to always have the IPod unplugged when turning the car on.

Would this work for the Non Sat ready M35's? I don't have Satelite radio ready on my M and I took it to the installer and they said that I can't instal my iPhone to my car and they said very strongly that it cannot be done at all???
