My questions is very specific and wondering if anyone would know what causes this. My iPhone 6s plus gets notifications when it connects to car Bluetooth Some are reminders i have set for when i get in the car, some are traffic condition notifications. My phone works perfectly with the Bluetooth connection, but the notifications do not always work. The reminder notification works most of the time, but the traffic notification barely ever works. If i reset all of my network settings and pair and unpair my phone they will sometimes work.

I also have a 2013 G37x and all of these notifications work with no issue in that car. Only difference that i am aware of with the two cars is the g37 does not have navigation or bluetooth audio but the M37 does I explained all of this to my local infiniti dealer and all they could tell me is that the bluetooth was connected and working from everything they could see. I was wondering if the Bluetooth is different on the 2013 models than the 2011 models and if there is some kind of upgraded Bluetooth i could buy if no one knows how to make this work.

It is driving me crazy, anyone who can help I would truly appreciate

Welcome to the forum.

I don't use Apple phones, but hopefully one of our other members will be able to help you out.

Are you talking about audible notifications or visual notifications on the car's screen?

I'm a little confused. Are you saying that when you connect to Bluetooth in both cars it somehow is messing up the ability to display your notifications on your iPhone's display? Also, how are you getting notifications when you connect to Bluetooth. I'm not familiar with that process.

The notifications work fine on the 2013 G37 with no issue, They do not work on the 2011 M37 unless i constantly unpair, reset my netwrork and re-pair my phone

I'm not understanding how bluetooth has anything to do with your iPhone displaying notifications.

The iphone has certain notification triggers that go off when a phone is connected via bluetooth to a vehicle. For example you can set a reminder to go off when you get in a car or out of a car. The phone knows when your phone "connects" to a bluetooth car and then sends the notification. The map notifications work in the same manner on the iphone. If you click the link i sent above you can read about it for your own knowledge. I do appreciate your help in any event

Ok, now I understand. the 2013 and 2011 probably have different Bluetooth chips installed and that's why it works more consistently on the 2013 G. I'm not sure if you can swap out the bluetooth module in the M. Good luck though.

This sounds more like a phone settings or iOS issue then a car issue. I use my iPhone 6 (iOS 9.2) in my '11 M56 and have no issues with the notifications on the phone screen popping up. The streaming audio usually dips. I also have my flash LED set to flash so that I know a message came in and that works too.

Once your phone disconnects from the cars Bluetooth, do the notifications start showing on the iPhone screen again?

Have you tried a hard reset on your iPhone? This does not erase or delete any data or settings. Just does a full reboot reset on the phone and OS.
  • Press and hold the Home button and the power button simultaneously. Hold both buttons until the iPhone shuts off and begins to restart. Let go AFTER you see the silver Apple logo appear on screen.
You can also try the Network Reset.
  • Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. You need to set up your Wi-Fi & Bluetooth connections again after doing this.

All regular notifications come in just fine. The issue is with the notifications which are car bluetooth based.

Which is why I suspect the issue is with the bluetooth module in the M. I have a 2011 M and I occasionally get choppy audio and sluggishness on the song titles being displayed on the navigation screen. I never have these issues when I am in a loaner car from the dealership, ie 2013 and up. I suspect that the M uses Bluetooth 2.0 and the G uses Bluetooth 3.0 or higher.

This may be true since 3.0 adds faster data. I get song title issued only when I skip songs on Pandora or Amazon music. If I don't skip songs they display fine. No sound issues at all.

But the faster data and lower power consumption of 3.0 vs 2.0 should not cause the OP's issues.

The predictive traffic routing alerts work fine in my car too so the same resets I listed above may help.

When it stops working, on your phone go into SETTINGS > PRIVACY > LOCATION SERVICES and make sure it is turned on.

Then in that same Location Services menu scroll down to SYSTEM SERVICES. Make sure both FREQUENT LOCATIONS and ROUTING & TRAFFIC are turned on.

Hope this helps.

I have not played with the location reminders. I cannot think of anything to remind myself of every time I get to a place I have been before. :gotme

I'm going to try it out on my car in a few. I set a reminder -- lets see if it reminds me when I get to my car. Thanks to the OP -- I didn't even know this existed. But like you Debonair, I'm not sure how useful it will be for me. I guess the traffic alerts will be helful....we'll see.

Worked like gangbusters for me, Jamesnap. As soon as I got in the car and started it my reminder alert popped up. I might actually start using this for reminders to drop of dry cleaning or something. I'm going to keep using it for the next few days and see if it's consistent, which was what the OP was asking about.

One more thing, just like Debonair said Settings>Privacy>Location Services>Reminders (and Maps) has to be on or set to "While Using The App." Also, Settings>Privacy>Location Services>System Services>Location-Based Alerts needs to be on.

I have all of that. The issue is that sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. What year is your car? Do you have navigation as well?? Also the reminder app works more consitently that the traffic condition notification. All of my settings are good. As I said this works with no issues at all on my 2013 G37. It does not work consistently with my 2011 M37

I figured you had it all on but wanted to make sure. I have a 2011 M56x, with Nav/ tech package. What traffic reminder are you requesting? I'd like to set it up on my phone to see what happens. I have an iPhone 5s though.

The link doesn't show how to set it up. It only describes how it works. I figured it out though.

I have also seemed to narrow down the fact that if i pair my phone and reset my network settings i can get the notifications on my phone. The issue is that once I use my phone via bluetooth for a phone call, all of these notifications do not come through anymore unless i unpair and re-pair my phone and reset the network settings

a nav update may upgrade the bluetooth software/firmware in the car as well.
