When I connect my iPhone 3GS to the iPod connector, music starts playing. Most times I do not want to listen to music from my iPhone. How can I turn off the music without losing connection to my iPhone? When I delete all the music on my phone, the iPod connection fails.

Thanks.

DO you have the stock stereo or an aftermarket one? Either way, you should just be able to change the source by hitting the source button. it will either say something on the button like "usb/aux/cd/radio" or "source" or "src". Why do you need the I[hone p[lugged in if your not listening to the music on it?

I have the stock unit in a 2011 Versa. I plugin the iPhone to the unit to charge it. Also, when using the iPhone with Bluetooth, it discharges more quickly. I have one iPhone that I leave connected in the car for emergencies when I forget to bring my other iPhone. I do not want to listen to anything when I get in the car and turn on my engine. But the music from the iPhone begins immediately. I have to turn the unit off. I do not want to listen to FM or CD's, etc. And when I turn the unit off, the iPhone does not charge. I think its basically a poorly designed unit.

I can't speak for the stock HU. My aftermarket unit will charge without having to play the music, although it does jump straight to the usb source when you plug it in. I never had usb on my stock unit, so I guess I can't help you with this one. Sorry!
