Man i just feel like a stupid ricer. So i get a pic of the engine that going to be sent to me. And the motor looks great and all but then i noticed something different about the oil pan like it was baffaled. So then i do more research and look again. Then i see it with a funny lookin axle then me and my buddies start to look at it somemore. then, while you guys just posted up for the n1 engine block we saw some fimiliarites. Looks exactly like a damn n1 block for an rb26dett. then i start lookin harder and doing some research. Looks like an rb25det from an r33 gst4. Man.... damn it. It's off a damn awd skyline. Soo i get to thinking how the fuq is this gonna work out with a rwd transmission. Looks like a regular rb25det housing. Heres some pics. How the hell do you guys make the rb26dett work with the 25det transmission? ohh just to top it off... I can only find info on a gts-4 but it only comes with an rb25de?? wtf. did it come as an option or out of a cifiero.

interesting rb25 from a gts-4, i thought that the r33 gts-4 was na......im gonna say just do the normal things that would be done to swap a rb26 in and you should be fine.

When you get that puppy in let me know, because I reallly want to get a good look at that AWD pan to help prepare me for my AWD project.

one more thing. You will most likely have to swap the oil pick up from you old motor when you change pans also.

Man I want this pallet! I would pull the pan make shure the baffling is not chopped up. If its the correct oil pickup for that pan I would say keep the pan. Do the same as I did and shave the diff part off the pan. Pull the shaft out and shave off all excess aluminum. Shouldnt be too hard.

thats a good idea because you get the extra capacity of the rb26 sump for free not to mention the cooling benifits of the al pan, it is a touch lighter too.

Yes but not by mutch. I shimmed it down and forward some and it was good enouf. The engine is going 4-5 inches into the firewall so I dont have to worry about it any more.

tis a stagea motor. I had one and am familiar with it a bit.

here's the only pic I could dig up of mine before I sold it to Cameron @ night7:

http://www.imagestation.com/pi...1.jpg

And as far as I know, the harness on the stagea series 2 AWD RB25DET is similar to an R34... I searched and searched and couldn't locate the pinouts for it so I ended up buying a series 2 RB25DET harness from a skyline in australia and then I sold that to cameron too. This was a loooong time ago when he was still around. It's a strange setup that's why I just got tired of it and sold it and went RB26 instead. btw, for the record the block uses the same awd parts as the RB26 and has both inner and outter bolt patterns for using a rwd or awd oil sump. You shouldn't encounter any problems converting to rwd.

But yea, definitely a steagea setup you have there.

i'm going to put my old series 1 harness on it. Should work. If not i'll take all the sensors off my old motor and it should be no problem.

i don't see why you couldnt cut off the diff and trim the surrounding and weld fill the cut outs. someone on here modify the awd pan, there's some pictures in the rb section.

yup saw the oil pan modified by cursed gtr. Nice job he did. For now i'm going to just throw on the old oil pan i got from my other rb and have this one modified and polished. Also, I got the motor in today and i'm going to take more pics. It is definitely a series 2 block didn't come with a flywheel or clutch. did notice that the oil pressure sensor is on the block instead of the oil filter adapter. also, the tps is totally different. Pics to come tomorrow.

Uh like yeah I got this done by a shop in two days. The polishing work was a bit more than that since I did it by hand, but it is functional and will fit in an S15. When doing this mod you have to be careful because the pan will crack sometimes, but it is a hell of alot better than using the 25 pan, because it leaves some baffle and extension options open to you. No one that I know here in Okinawa is using an RB25 oil pan for that specific reason.

Any idea what the polished modified sump weighs after you did that?

I remember pulling mine off the GTR motor and it seemed to weigh a ton vs. the 25 pan.

It is pretty light. If you seriously want to know, I will weight it this weekend and post the weight.

Here are some other pics. I would just do it myself. Or hit yahoo Japan auctions, you can find them there sometimes for like 150.00-200.00 with baffling. Just my luck the scale was broken this weekend. The pan was about the same as a 10 Pound sack of potatoes (give or take) I will have to go find a another method of getting this thing on a scale for those of you who requested it.

I was thinking the same thing...

Also, the RB25DET you can just swap pans and pickups and you should be gold.
