Just wanted to say HI to everyone!

Got a RB25DET engine transmission ecu in my garage for a week now and want to put it into my 93 S13 coupe. I'm looking at around June/August to install it since I need to purchase a few things for it. Such as mounting kit, IC, IC piping, Drive shaft, clutch, maybe flywheel and a few things on the engine that were broken in transit.

Spent a few days trying to figure out the wiring already with a volt meter and a diagram from megala.com. The harness I have is cut in one place which I believe is the one white connector (according to the "8 step" sticky).

Next I want to figure out the hoses and vacuum lines. Hoses I can figure out pretty good but the vacuum lines are over my head.

I'm glad this site is available for everyone to get information regarding this engine. If not for you I would not have thought of this or SR swap due to lack of support. In the next few months, if anything stumps me, I promise to do a search first then post a question. Thank you.

I live in Mission Viejo, CA and anyone is welcomed to check things out, give advise, lend a hand, or just to have a beer in my garage. Just e-mail me [email protected]

Once again, Hi and Thank you!

Welcome.

You'll find in general that people here are pretty good about answering questions that haven't been asked before. Good luck on the swap, take lots of pics, and keep us posted!

Welcome to the board! What part of Mission Viejo do you live in? I spent some of my younger years living down there, and I still have some friends in the area. It's a pretty chill place to live, at times, I kind of miss the boring safety that is south Orange County.

I was one of those "turbo KA or SR" until the RB trend uprising. So yes, it is an RB that I will be swapping.

I'm taking lots of pics. Mostly of questionable parts such as vacuum lines, kinked fuel lines, leaking oil return line, clutch/FW condition, general assembly, etc.

That's too funny. My friend lives off of Alicia and Jeronimo, actually a few blocks further down Alicia, toward RSM. In some apartments sort of behind that baseball field / park. It's a small world. Anyway though, good luck with the swap. It sounds like you got a less than ideal engine. What's the deal with the damage?

damn impulse buying! Let this lesson be learned: This is due to buying an engine that is not in a clip. It was delivered on a pallate propped up by some 2x4's which kinked the oil return line. I might have a dented oil pan on the bottom which I will take off and inspect for internal damage.

I got it from Risingsunengines.com which I never researched into. I went online and I think they have a BBB link which I never checked. (Impulse Buying!) Paid $2k for it. They say they test run each engine and do the compression test, but who realy knows? I think they have a 1 month warranty as long as I dont melt this metal glued onto the head as this will show the engine got fried. Doesn't really do me any good.

Came with MAF, transmission (with the drive shaft splines), ECU. But no IC or piping for it.

Hey, if I got ripped-off just keep it to yourself since I'm stuck with it! No sense in crying over spent money :)

As much as it sucks, that's the attitude you have to have. Work with what you have. I hope that the compression and everything comes out okay. Are you planning to rebuild the motor, or just find the external pieces that you need, and slap it in the car?

I notice your keeping it to yourself :) So far I'm not planning on tearing the whole thing down. If I see anything significant in the oil pan of neglect then I might. I'll check out the spark plugs too for any signs. The only thing inside that I've seen is the one cam which is visible from the oil filler cap. No signs of wear that I can feel or see.

One thing I notice on the engine are the new belts and water pump and from the sign of the silicone sealant the thermostat. It's great that it is new, but why was it replaced? Did it break down and overheat or was it just scheduled maintenance interval? How many miles does the water pump in these engines last anyways? I know my KA lasted till 120k miles. yikes!
