hey everyone,

New here, just joined to day my main introduction is in the gen forum section but I have an 03 xterra that is giving me nightmares right now so I figured I would meet some others that love xterras but have had issues too. Maybe I can learn something. I have a 3.3 L v6 of course 4wd that just had the rear end rebuilt now the engine is throwing ridiculous codes and making me mental. I have posted the issues to the nissan tech forum if anyone cares to brave it. I love my truck and have no problems until now. But its cool to know that other nissan appreciators are out there and look forward to meeting you guys. I have no pics of my truck as yet, however I have pics on my phone of the rear end apart but I have to get them onto my pc first.

start by posting the codes.

You had rear end trouble with an '03? That's unusual.

po154, po328, po455, p1168 are the codes. I know what they mean as far as the code itself, However I am wonering if there is anything that could be causing the knock sensor, o2 sensor, evap emissions leak large and closed loop control bank 2 to be displayed all at once. Yhea the 03 rear diff was rebuilt. Completed it on Saturday the pinion bearing and seal were bad as well as the carrier bearings and seals. The companion flange or yoke was bad too. When we took it apart it was all messed up. So that was taken care of and now all this. I just don't even know where to begin here. The 03 has an outstanding recall for the fuel sending unit. I don't know if that would cause this to occur. I have an appointment to get that fixed later this week. Any input would be most appreciated.

Welcome to NICO.

NM50 would be the best person to comment on possible sources of your codes. It's VERY unlikely the differential rebuild had anything to with the codes.

First: Check your gas cap. A loose of damaged gas cap can cause weird things to happen to the Evaporator system.

Second: Crank your spare down and remove it. On the passenger side of your Xterra near the mount for your spare tire you will find a small black plastic box. Not much larger than 1/2 loaf of bread. Check to see if the box is cracked or crushed in any way. Check to see if all the vapour lines are attached.

I'd post the images but my image server is down so check your email for the details on the Evap. Canister.
