well, Ive been floating around Nico for a few months now, I first joined this website looking purely for information on Z32's, after awhile my interested was swayed to classic Z's, but then yet again, I realized at my age with my little experience 240's were ideal. But here I am, with my first car, second vehicle.

Another thing Ive realized while reading forums is that down in the states(which is where bulk of you are from) 240's are DIRT cheap. Im not sure if you guys realize how good off you are when it comes to these cars, it seems like everyone and their dog has a S-chassis in the USA. It took me the last 6 months to locate this S14, and long story short $2500 later, here I am with a half of a car.

onto a little about me i suppose, im 17 and im finishing up the last few months of high school. For the last 4 years iv worked hard and never been unemployed, for the past 7 months ive been working two jobs, one at a grocery store, and the other at a mechanic shop. Ive learned alot about cars over the last 10 months at the shop and it gave me the confidence to approach this car which is certainly a project.

The Car was in a front end collision back in 2007 and was immediately purchased by a mechanic at a Nissan/infiniti salvage specialist shop. The entire Rad support was replaced by the previous owner with all OEM parts. He then left it in his shop yard for the last year, that's where I came in. There is a few rust spots that are my priority right now.

Anyways, ive talked enough, time for pictures.

I think the pictures make it look alot worse than it really is. Except the rust. That's just bad news. But the front end is nothing more than a days work. And the car will run once I get the rad and such hooked up. As for the rust my father is a welder so hopefully I can deal with it quickly.

But my short term plans are put it together. Get it running and deal with the rust. Long term I'd like a kouki swap, SR, suspension/wheels then paint.

At least you work at a shop, and might be able to get it on a lift.

Nah in Canada when your 13 you can "safe" jobs like dishes in a restaurant.

but yeah
i have 100% open access to the shop, but I want to try to take most of it on my own. When im doing an engine/transmission swap ill deffinatley do it at work, but all this minor stuff I can do at home,we have all the tools at home air tools included.

Tonight im hoping to get the bumper support on, re line up the fenders and perhaps lights,we will see. ill update at the end of the night with my progress.

alrighty, well I didn't go after the bumper like i had originally planned (my Rad/AC condenser is straight up garbage) so i started piecing together the interior.

I came across a question, could anyone please open their glovebox and take a picture of the latch, it appears mine is missing, and it may be in the boxes of parts, but im not 100% what im looking for. that would be great.

Also,question #2-what is this?

queston #3- what are these fasteners called so i know what to look for at the store?

thanks

You would be correct, that is the reclining handle for the drivers side I believe.

thanks for helping me with the handle. Still wondering someone could open their glove box and take a picture of the latch before I go and buy a new one.

Anyways, my Rad is getting pressure tested Monday to see if its any good, if it is then all I need is the Rad and a battery and it will run, then if it runs smooth and there's no knocks or anything that I wasn't informed of ill get the rest together this week. If the engine is garbage I guess the SR is comming sooner than I had expected haha. Which isn't a bad thing, I just have no money.

welcome to nico and yea i highly recommend the S14 Sr unless you plan on modding it with bigger cams and such. I ran a 13.3 at the track on an all stock S14 sr on 14 psi last friday. Best desision i ever made.

On monday im calling Nissan for the clip and glove box latch, hopefully it wont be too much, but ill still probably try to find someone parting out an S14 for the latch. But since tomorrow is a car day and my rad is at the shop until monday im going to start my body work tomorrow.

now ill be honest with you guys, i know nothing at all about body work. I'm planning on using a disc to take off most of the paint around the lip of that wheel well, then zip cut out the rust spots, then weld in and smooth out the new sheets of metal with bondo or fibre glass.

any other suggestions on how I should do this?

well bad news. I guess I underestimated the severity of this rust, its to a point where my original plan of my father and I taking care of it isnt an option. so my dads buddy is going to take car of it for $20/hour. money I don't have.

So its my decision now to leave the rust for the time being, im going to put the engine and transmission swap as my priority right now, then after an eventual Kouki swap the rust will be dealt with at the same time as paint.

and im getting sick of staring at that donut, so new wheels might be in order very soon. im feeling bronze work emotions? or Ray's G-games, perhaps just used NISMO wheels if I can find a set up north.
