Intro'd on the general forum, figured I'd do it here too.

Hey all. Just registered with the forum and decided to introduce myself. Decided to join the forum because I'm starting a build on a 2005 G35 Coupe, and where better to get the buzz than the forums? I'm a former Army EOD guy, and I got retired after getting hit on my fifth deployment back in 2005. Got hit while taking care of IED 1000-something. At any rate, I'm working in the AT field now teaching the stuff I did in the Army. LOOONG time gear head. First build: 1968 Ford Mustang Fastback (first car in fact). And the current build...hehe, well, we're about to install a complete STS Turbo system, and from there....the stars. Once the boxes of goodies get here I plan on starting a build thread with pictures, the trials and the tribulations as well. I'm also planning on trying to keep this as stock looking as I can....from the outside, so I won't be doing very many body mods. Beyond my gauges, and trying to get more air to the intercooler of course. Although, I am doing a 5lb. nitrous fogger to ice the intercooler, so most of the grille stuff will be purely cosmetic.

Oh....as soon as the kit comes...in 2 weeks GGRRRRRR! In the meantime, I get to prewire for gauges....because that's ALWAYS a joy. I'll start it with those pics....I'll leave out all the profanity I'm sure will be used.

That I fully understand. I pretty much refuse to do major upgrades anymore cuz I get in a pissy mood when working on a daily driver. I pay a shop to do stuff now, other than lighting and such.

Can't wait to see the pictures lol! I love the idea to keep it looking stock! That way when you get to the track you can dust mostly anyone and then have them go "uh dude what you got in that thing"

Good Luck and if you have any questions about the G's let us know and we can do our best to get you an answer!

I'm all about the sleeper look at the track.

I do have 2 questions: Anybody know if there is a 4 or 5 core radiator available for the G35?And is anybody running Tanabe shocks? I'm curious about the incabin control for them.

Did you say STS? As in mount the turbo under the trunk, STS turbo kit? or am I wrong?

Very creative!

Either way, I'm really interested to see how your project turns out! Once I get a steady cash flow, I'm going to start going to work on my G... baby steps though lol

Don't have tanabe shocks myself, but I've heard some good things about them but in my eyes Tein > Tanabe. But hey, a little research doesn't hurt... I'm sure someone who can better answer you question will hop in and speak up...

But, good luck with everything! Can't wait to read any updates that you post

No, you got it right. It will be mounted where the stock muffler was. For how I want the car to look I think it's the best option. I really don't want to draw attention to it as a "racer". Besides which (and just as important) STS cut me a big discount. They're giving me everything (Turbo, exhaust, new intake, return pipe, front mount intercooler, injectors, fuel pump, etc.) for just under 5K. Some things are not meant to be passed up. Of course, I know the next project will be a new AT Valve Body for the response time on the shift.

What?!?!?!?

That's one heck of a steal!

Well when you get the kit and get everything installed, you're going to be one happy camper, because there is a 350z that has an STS kit and he said its quite amazing...

I would also like to thank you for your heroic service to our country.

I just found that company online and it seems like a brilliant idea. They say it has no or very little lag. I cannot wait to see this install. How do they have you run the intake tubing to the rear? There is not a bunch of extra room down there. There are a few "sleepers" around here but they use load whinney superchargers. It would be great to smoke a few vettes and Porsches on the street. Good Luck

Welcome to Nico, there were a few Hemi rams running around with STS kits. Very little lag and pretty quick.

You might consider water-meth injection and a wide band air/fuel gauge so you can tune your fuel. What are you using for tuning??

Just to prepare you here is a twin turbo Z I saw at the track a couple weeks ago. Running 12's on 10 psi :-)

I talked to the guy after that run, he said he can go up to 32 psi. The thing is an automatic with a 4000 stall tc.

I'm considering water/meth injection down the road. I plan on eventually doing a forged motor and purpose building it for the track. Of course, when I do that I'll be stepping up to a larger turbo too. I've already pre-wired for a wide band air/fuel, fuel pressure, and boost gauge. Still need to pre-wire all my NOS stuff. I'm putting in a 5lb NOS fogger for the intercooler. STS is sending along a tuning module for the turbo, but at some point (soon) I'll be putting in a UTEC system. Right now, I'll be relying a friend who specs engines for Team Jaguar for a lot of stuff. He already has all the plug-ins to reprogram the stock chip, and once I get the UTEC, reset it to the factory settings.

Not sure how STS is going to have me run the intake tubing. They're building my kit now, but except for a few minor changes it will be the same install as the 350Z kit. Of course, as we all know, what the manufacturer says is not always how it turns out. STS has this predicted as a 6 hour install, if you follow their step by step instructions. Couple of other things I'm worried about too. I already know I'll be upgrading the AT valve body (SGP or GTM...Haven't decided). And Infiniti says the driveshaft will handle 700RWHP, but I'm looking at putting in an OEM aluminum driveshaft. And the stock shocks will have to go.
