My name is Dustin. Here's the scoop, I graduated highschool and with my graduation money I bought a 93 coupe 5 speed which was a pile of junk! But I always wanted a 240 so I said screw it and picked it up. Soon I had to replace the clutch, was told it just needed bled. Swapped it out and she drove like a dream. Even got a little sideways :chuckle: It was the most fun I'd ever had in a vehicle, I fell in love. Well after a while she suddenly stopped running and I had 0 funds to put into her. So bye bye the coupe went. Having said that, this was nearly 6 years ago. So here I am getting into the game again and starting a ground up build. Ka-t for the win  I've been doing some looking on CL and whatnot for a motor to begin rebuilding and then boost before I pick up a good shell to put it in. Haven't been able to find much other than some overpriced unknown mileage ka's until I thought to myself.. My buddy's parents own a junk yard. So as I'm taking in some scrap copper wire(I'm an electrician by trade) I ask if they happen to have a 240 around. She first said no but they had a 92 Nissan truck with a 2.4 liter motor. Not knowing if it was the ka24 or not I didnt want to jump on it and get too excited. So I took my wire back and planned on going to check out the truck. Luckily my buddies mom comes to the back and tells me they actually got one in a few days ago. I think score. 140k miles on the motor, came in as a running car as well, 5 speed pig nose hatch. Even though I plan on doing a full motor rebuild I thought it was a win. The body has a fair amount of rust but the motor can be had for 150$ and transmission for 250$. I figure I can get a 5 speed elsewhere cheaper so I said no to the transmission. As a starting point, is the 150 for the engine a good deal?

I know that was long but there's my introduction and question :dblthumb:

My build plans are for a mild build, 300-325whp in a reliable way. The point of these cars is to drive them a lot anyway right :mike

For $150, that isn't a bad start, but you still have to build it right.

Seeing as I'm a fiend for power Im going to do forged rods and Pistons, new HG, standalone of some sort (any suggestions greatly appreciated), maybe gt35r turbo, turbo mani (suggestions on this are also appreciated, seeing mixed reviews on many),z32 maf if I can get away with it, 720cc injectors, msd ignition etc. it'll be my first turbo build. While I've owned turbo cars I haven't had much in depth work with one. So I'm excited to get this motor and start plugging along. Of course some of these parts will be over kill for 300+whp but eventually I'm sure I'll want more power

If it's an 89-90 pignose, it should have a KA24E (single cam), and I wouldn't waste your time with that engine. You want the 91+ KA24DE (Dual cam) if you want to build a KA.

After doing a lot of reading I see that's my best bet. It seems like everyone has an sr, and I want to do something different. So the search continues :rotfl
