After several years I'm back into the 240 game. I used to post here as ½WhiteS13 but I guess I didn't log on for so long that my account got culled. On to the pictures;

I'll probably make a build thread when my funds run out and I can't make it to the garage but for the time being, here goes!

My 1995 240sx I snagged last summer. She's progressing well. Nice change of pace as this one has a straight frame and zero rust. Minor issues like some drilled holes in the fuel pump cover and leaky OEM PCV system are getting addressed. Just upgraded to an MSPNP ecu a few weeks back and within days I'm powering through the stock clutch so I'm pretty happy with the power so far. T3/T4 running 8psi on the stock block. Stock catback. Deatschwerks 550cc injectors and a 1 piece steel driveshaft. End goal for this is a built motor with reliable 350-400 whp to replace my Camaro for track duty.

And what I'm hoping to replace. Track rubber on 305s is getting out of hand. I've got a long way to go but the S14 has about 1100lbs advantage already.

Image

Couple of laps from Roebling a few years back, before the headers and removal of the hoodwrap.

Bonus way-back-when pic for AZHitman. BRM exhaust on my ½WhiteS13. Still the best sounding exhaust I've ever had. Glad to see NICO is still around. Keep doing God's work man.

Welcome back, I'm on my second account as well. Sad to say it seems kinda dead around here was hoping for more, it heartbreaking that Facebook has some how started killing the forums that were such a great source of knowledge but hopefully we can keep this going.

Thanks. I hope so too. I haven't had a FB account for years and don't plan to. I'm finally starting to have some downtime from work so I hope to be around a lot more. I had a turbo ka24et in that white hatch and owned 2 other 240s so hopefully I can contribute to the KA knowledge base a bit.

We can only hope, I recently left facebook for good and only really had it for the marketplace which is on its way to killing craigslist smh. This will always be the best place for Nissan information that's searchable.

I honestly don't get how Facebook ended up replacing forums. I don't have a facebook account and never have but I can't imagine they have stuff like articles, FSM's and things of that nature. I've also came and gone and it is kind of sad how this forum that I used to spend so much time on is so dead now.

Maybe a convenience thing? Instant gratification from quick replies? For me, I really don't approve of Zuckerberg's ethics and the less than honest history they've had in dealing with user privacy.

I need to post some more pics or start a build thread. Maxima coil on plug conversion completed this weekend and some general engine bay harness spring cleaning. I need it to stop raining out here so I can go work on my tune.

It's been a busy past 7 months. I convinced the stock pistons to give up the ghost, rebuilt the motor, and started working on the car in earnest. Some teaser pics until I can get around to making a proper build thread for her.

ah, thanks for the welcome and head's up. Can't have broken picture links!

Rotating assembly balanced, .020 over pistons. Calico coated ACL rod and Clevite 77 main bearings (ACL discontinued theirs apparently?)

Smooth as butter just needs a tune.

Hell yeah.
My favorite part of a build is when you switch the ratchet from "loosen" to "tighten".

Pictures forthcoming but I grew tired of the recurring exhaust leak at the turbo to downpipe connection and converted to 90mm Vband.... on a Borg Warner S265sxe 😈

I had a typo earlier. It's an S257sxe. T3 .82 AR exhaust housing with 90mm vband. flows so much better than the Ebay special that was on there before and NO EXHAUST LEAKS! I can actually tune my VE table now. there is a bit more delay on the boost now, I'll be able to dial back a bit more timing into the table at lower RPMs, I think, without putting too much stress on the drivetrain. On to the pictures;

BorgWarner makes a sexy turbo. Thank you for supporting my retirement fund :) (I work for BorgWarner Transmission Systems, but its all the same stock symbol).
What manifold are you running?

:rotfl Cx 10ga. I fully expect to have to reweld the collector later on but i have a guy who does great stainless now so im ok with that. I didnt have the funds for a full race unit.

Im totally happy with it so far. All american made and less than half the cost of the garrett unit i was pricing. I could have gone efr but this is more than ok for my setup. Ryan actually got me turned on to their match bot. Leaps and bounds over what garrett has on their site

Man! I made a match-bot type thing a few months before BorgWarner came out with theirs:
so-i-made-you-guys-some-compressor-map- ... 29705.html

Of course, theirs is way better... but still.

I need a bigger wastegate. After upgrading the turbo i am having some boost creep on the 9 lb spring on my precision pw39. Looking to convert to a turbosmart 45mm hypergate.

Having said that, i made 342hp/332tq at 5400 rpm at 205 kpa (about 14.5psi). 73% duty cycle on injectors. Ill post up a dyno pic later. It pulls like a freight train above 3k rpm.

Dyno in all its boost-cut glory. :gapteeth:

I'll be back at it with bigger WG, hopefully soon. Party starts at 3 grand and it pulls hard. Can't wait to see what it does at 7 grand and the EBC to help spool-up.

Daaaamn that's a good looking torque curve.
Is the reason you kept stopping the pulls because of the creep?
It would be cool to have boost plotted on the same graph to see just how much she's creeping.

We were running up to boost cut. I could have dialed it up on the ecu but what was the point? I didnt have control over it so better to play it safe and come back with a bigger gate.

First short run was on ebc. Then ebc duty cyle dialed way down. Then ebc off. Then ebc completely removed and straight vacuum hose from turbo outlet to wastegate with the top nipple open to atmosphere. Then tuned for what the logs gave to work with.

On a sidenote i LOVE this megasquirt ECU. Leaps and bounds over the AEM series 2 i had way back when.

Yeah it is fun. I can break the tires loose from a roll in 2nd. I need to watch it on the stock axles and tranny.

I love this turbo. I ordered a turbosmart 45mm gate today and ill run it at 12 psi spring and ebc for spoolup and target 15psi. Will see what the injectors are at if shes still making power at 7000rpm but 73% at 5500 and 14.5ish psi confirms my expectations that i am due for a fuel system upgrade. Radium rail and top feed ID injector time.

Got a killer deal on a fuel rail someone had lying around unused.

Wastegate came in and is quite a bit larger than the outgoing pw39.

I pulled the manifold and did some porting to the wastegate dump tube not much to be gained but every bit counts right?
Installed the new wastegate and it works wonderfully. I was concerned about the sound since I'm running it divorced but, I like it more actually.

Need to make some calls tomorrow and get pricing on some ID 1050x's (hoping to run the shorter 34mm variation.) Hoping I'll have the fuel system finished this week and on to the dyno.

I've been working toward this since I sold my last 240 in 08' when I shipped out. I have been patient long enough. :rotfl

Not done by any means but I'll rest on the powertrain when it puts down more than the Camaro.

ID 1050x injectors should be here Wednesday and I have my slot reserved at 9 for dyno time on Friday morning. :ohno:

Excellent. I'd love to see what a modern KA turbo setup can do.
I'm about to pull the trigger on a BorgWarner EFR myself...

I am so impressed with this. Really. The quality on this turbo is phenominal. The motor is really smooth on power delivery too. That balanced rotating assy makes noticeable difference on these kas. Ill get an ati fluidampr on her in the future too.

New injector clips on the right, old ones on the left. Notice a difference? I hope not. Nearly 2 hours of disassembling and re-pinning those bastards.

all adjusted and it fired right up (After I burned the changes to the ECU...)

idles smoother than when it had the DW550s on there.

550s were on the car when i bought it. Po told me he bought them used, god knows when. I have long suspected they're overdue for cleaning.

Got my multiplier dialed in on the ECU. It was beautiful outside so I took advantage of the weather and installed some subframe collars I had lying around the garage.

(Thanks ca18det_boy!)

She needs a bath. I'll get it tuned tomorrow morning and when the weather permits, get it up on jackstands and go through it with the pressure washer and simple green.

I can't tell you the last time I washed my S13, but then again, its a beast of burden now haha.
I'm a firm believer that every garage needs a s***.
