Hello everyone! I just bought a used 2008 G37s 6MT, slate blue, every possible option except tech package and 4-wheel steering, just under 4,000 miles. According to the dealership, the previous owner ordered it and then got transferred overseas and had to sell it back. Carfax report was totally clear, and there is not a single noticeable flaw anywhere on the car. I got it for $35K, but since the Blue Book doesn't list the estimated resale for a 2008 model yet, I have no clue if that was a good price or not. I had to assume it was, and I just couldn't pass it up. Good deal? Average deal? Spot-on pricing? Did I overpay?

Also, the dealership talked me into a wheel and tire insurance package. For $500, I get 6 years of complete coverage if I need to repair/replace any of the wheels and/or tires due to road hazards. I figured each wheel had to be close to $1K, so I went ahead and bought it assuming I'll pick up a nail or hit a pothole sometime in the next 6 years. Anyone else get suckered into that kind of thing?

Congrats on your new ride and welcome to NICO!!

Great colour!

Sounds like a decent deal to ... I'm in Canada so I'm not 100% sure on what the going rate in the U.S. for a used G37 is. I'm sure some of the other boys will chime in tho.

I got the same tire insurance as you when I had my 05 and it paid for itself so I think that was a smart move!

Looking forward to getting to know you!

Any future mods planned?

Welcome to NICO

I don't think you got a bad deal. Could you have done better? Who knows?Don't worry about it. Be happy. We have some here that are in love with their G's and perhaps even sleep with them. My 06 was $35k out the door including NJ 7% tax and 4 yr registration.

Good luck with your new G

Andrew,Welcome to Nico!

Wouldn't worry too much about the deal (and I don't have a clue as to how good it was), but it does look good!

Not true

Regular 87 octane costs less than premium. Cheap **** no!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Octane_rating

"A common understanding that may apply in only limited circumstances amongst petrol consumers is that adding a higher octane fuel to a vehicle's engine will increase its performance and/or lessen its fuel consumption; this may be false under most conditions — while engines perform best when using fuel with the octane rating for which they were designed and any increase in performance by using a fuel with a different octane rating is minimal or even imaginary, unless there are carbon hotspots, fuel injector clogging or other conditions that may cause a lean situation that can cause knocking that are more common in high mileage vehicles, which would cause modern cars to retard timing thus leading to a loss of both responsiveness and fuel economy. This also does not apply to turbocharged vehicles, which may be allowed to run greater advance in certain circumstances due to external temperatures."

My G happens to love regular, runs great, and gives me decent MPG

Thanks guys!! I'll probably stay stock for the time being unless I see some interesting mods while I'm surfing around the site. Besides, IMO the '08 G37s looks pretty damn stunning as-is. I might look into an exhaust that sounds slightly more aggressive, but every aftermarket system I've heard so far is a bit too loud for my taste.

Does anyone know of any solutions for the terrible excuses for cupholders in the 6MT?!?! I drive an hour to work and I can barely fit any sort of travel mug into those tiny cubes!!! Around town, though, I'm too busy working the gears to waste my time with a drink.

Welcome to NICO

You got a good deal. Stripped G37's are around 35k and you have most of the options. My G37 with premium and Sport packages was a bit over 38k including an aftermarket spoiler.

Hard to find used G37's or I would have gotten one instead of a new one.

Welcome to NICO!

Intake and exhaust mods will give you a little more growl, and some like the Stillen are not overly agressive.

As for fuel...follow telco's advice if you want....but the general consensus around here (myself included) is to follow your owner's manual for the type of fuel to use.

do you know why telco recommends 87? well its because telco has a secret shop that fixes vq35 engines and needs a little more work.

Regarding the cup holders... I don't know about the 37 but in my 35 the cup holders are under the center armrest, which works out good since it's not in the way of shifting...

Yea, they changed the whole console around on the G37. The automatic comes with two very normal, very functional cupholders. However, the 6MT only has two tiny squares under the center armrest that the owner's manual refers to as "cupholders." To my surprise, after a week of ownership, those stupid little cubes actually fit almost every fast-food cup I've tried!!! Who knew?!?!?
