Car: 2004 Infiniti G35 coupe

Post

Hi,
I'm brand new to this site (nice site!) but not new to Infiniti. I've taken over the 2004 Inf. G35 coupe (garage queen) with 32k on the clock, mostly road trips. I recently sold my 2nd Gen. T/A which was built to a stout level, due to health issues. The G is no slouch, but I'll have to get used to not having loads of torque. The Pontiac 406 was good to 6k rpm shifts, but not sustained at that level, and used a Quadrajet 4 bbl., not FI.

So, after learning all about T/A's for almost 15 yrs., now I need to learn Nissan Infiniti. I hope all with bear with me because the things I know are old school, as am I. The coupe has been relatively trouble free, though recently a light came on and it needed 1 coil, throttle body cleaning and a new air filter. I can't believe that the filter got that dirty - the T/A breathed through an open shaker and the K&N filter didn't get very dirty.

Thanks for allowing me on the site,

Dave

Welcome to NICO! The G35 is a fun car, I used to have an '07 sport coupe myself. Sounds great with a solid cat back exhaust on it, but make sure to keep cats on it, otherwise it sounds way too raspy (unless you turbo it of course). If you turbo the car, it will have plenty of the TQ you miss from the T/A. Not exactly the same of course, but it'll sure put a smile on your face! :D

Welcome aboard! You should post some pictures of the trans am and the G! Have you been on forums before and know how they work/how to post pictures?

Thanks. I still belong to TransAmCountry though I sold the T/A, and I'll see if I can import pictures from Photobucket. Nothing remarkable about the G35 coupe though. White, stock so far, 11 1/2 yrs. old and 32K miles. Garage queen.

Ah. Don't feel bad about staying on that other forum long after your car is gone. We have a lot of members that do that here.

Welcome to NICO!
You'll enjoy the G, for sure.
That TA sounds like it was really entertaining. Was it for racing, or were you able to use it on the street, too?

I'll echo what others have said above about staying on a site long after you don't own the make/model anymore. The last time I owned a Nissan product was ~2007. The folks here are great and very knowledgeable. If you haven't noticed already, we have a full collection of Factory Service Manuals that'll help you fix just about anything you're willing to do yourself. The link is in my signature, set it for a bookmark for the future!
