So I've been on here for a few months already researching, etc. but have yet to introduce myself and car. Here it is, '93 base model 5spd. basically stock. It pretty much sits how I bought besides a few repairs (new front fender, new headlight cover, replaced windshield). For mods, I tossed on a short shifter, CAI, and what I thought to be a VLSD but actually turned out to be a clutch type LSD in a VLSD housing (score!). Haven't opened it up to check what kind yet. Engine was rebuilt about 20k before I bought it (about 9 months ago) so I'm stacking parts for a KA-T setup and looking at some coilovers.

Sorry for the pic quality, only have a cell phone camera.

So my question is really just of opinion. So the previous owner thought it would be cool to just weld a Megan muffler on the stock exhaust (doesn't sound very good, rattles against the differential like crazy). My question is whether you guys think getting new wheels or getting a legit exhaust is a higher priority. Either way I'm gonna be rolling on steelies instead of these ugly things for a while, just wondering what others would do first.

check the exhaust hangers to see what the rattling is all about, i know you would kick yourself in the a** if you bought a new cat back system and still had rattling. IMO coilovers should be the next things on your list and worry about exhaust later.

First off, I like your car and it appears to be clean!

You want opinions (If I were you):I would make getting coilovers a high priority on my list. Your car sits very high and the wheels don't flow as well as they would if you did have coilovers and you went lower.

Engine upgrades can wait. You want to be more into maintenance at this stage and bringing the car back to life before you go adding stress to the engine.

If your muffler issue bothers you then repair it. My exhaust shield clip broke on one of my cars and I finally had enough of hearing it so I fixed it, good as new and no annoying sounds while driving.

Thanks for posting photos of your car and welcome to Nico! Be good to your car and it will be good to you.

Thanks, yeah the exhaust hangers need to be replaced but it sounds pretty bad anyway so I'll probably replace the whole thing eventually. Coils were originally at the top of my list but I'd really like to make the most educated decision possible before dropping 1k+ on them.

Coils + Steelies > Wheels + 4x4

Fix the exhaust, and look at kartboy.com for hangers-great product..as for a catback, check out Buddy Club. They look/sound great and dont look as "rice" as a 3-4" tip.

What would be a pretty good size spacer to get so the wheels sit a little more flush when I lower it?

It'd have to be a bolt on spacer. 25mm at least. Don't do that until you drop it though. Save for some coilovers, you won't regret it.

If you can sell those wheels and get stockers to roll around on, it might be a good move. It will earn you some cash to put into the coilover fund.

those wheels were on my car when I got it. I bought coilovers and wheels at the same time. I did run those wheels for a day while going to put tires on my new wheels. They have horrible fitment. I sold them and gave the tires to a friend to stretch on some 9 inch wheels.

I don't believe exhausts come with hangars. I'm going to get new ones for now anyway. The wheels are in the process of being sold and adding to the coilover funds!

1. Maintenance in every regard2. Suspension, coilovers and RUCA's to handle the rear camber3. Brakes, b/c those stock brakes absolutely suck3. Wheels4. Exhaust5. Engine upgrades

My engine has 96k and running on 180PSI across the boardIve got KTS coils, 300zx brakes all round, 5 lug, and s14 se wheelsIm getting full suspension arms from enjuku sooni skipped a step in there myself b/c my exhaust was practically falling apart, so i got myself a BRM exhaust dual tip stainless steel. Was a pretty penny, but worth every single penny.

BRM EXHAUST FTW!!!
