I cant picture a cowl or scoop ever looking good on my car, I think I'm going to cut out the spider design on my hood to fit around the plenum and runners perfectly. Then I'll line the edges of the cut with some sort of rubber insulation. Probably wont be water tight, It sounds like it would be okay though. can anyone think of a downside to having an opening in the hood like this? I dont think having rain water on the top of your engine occasionally would corrode or damage anything...

if you've got a garage then its cool, but otherwise you'll get mad water in the valleys and thats no bueno when it comes to sensors.

The swap is looking great man!

Just wanted to say, make sure you put the small metal spacer ring that is used with the stock VH flexplate BEHILD your new Z flywheel. It is needed for proper starter engagement and clutch engagement. Don't want to see you needing to take everything apart too many times! Don't forget the small spacer that goes behing the throwout bearing as well, it should have come with your kit.
super sick great progress, what starter are you using? (z32 or vh), cause i haven't assembled my flywheel and clutch setup yet but i did install my pilot bearing and my mazworx kit didn't say anything about these spacers???

I ended up using a J30 starter which is the exact same as the VG starter.

I emailed mazworx about the spacer between the crank and flywheel and they had no idea what I was talking about. I put the clutch and flywheel on without the spacer at first and only had ~.020 clearance between the flywheel and some casting on the block so it's safe to say that the spacer is absolutely needed.

Finally got my headers installed. Mazworx stated that there would be clearance issues with the collectors and the frame rails but I hae about an inch of space between them.

The drivers saide was a b**** to install because I had to remove the steering shaft!Passenger side was a breeze. Will be good ground clearance.Had to use a smaller diameter brake booster as the 9+ inch stock s13 one wouldn't clear the valve cover. Stock s13 on right 91 Sentra gxe on the left which is just over 7in in diameter and fit with no modifications.

Thanks for looking

interesting...doesnt look like the mazworx kit drops the engine any lower than how i set my vh up.booster to valve cover clearance is indicative of that as i am using a similar booster.i think you'll find that swapping your dohc throttle cable for a sohc one will give you a much nicer fit with significantly less free cable.

Thanks Carl, i'm going to have to measure up the difference between the DOHC and SOHC throttle cable.

It's been quit some time since I blew the dust of this thread so I figured I update it with some pics and a few vids of the car RUNNING.

I had a few small issues to work with but it was simple stuff, MAF wired backwards, me forgetting to plug in the number 3 injector, lol.

I still got a little tweaking to do, timing, idle adjustment....

Also have to get the exhaust done. Planned on doing it myself but lost access to a lift (long story)

A pic to show shifter placement, had to trim my dash piece a bit.

My SLP scoop

And the good stuff!

Being in the garage messes with the sound a bit sorry, btw this is cold start.http://s65.photobucket.com/alb...7.flvh ... lb...8.flv

Nice project log.

Interesting tips with the brake booster and throttle cable!

I'd love to see some wider angle shots of the hood scoop.

Keep up the good work!

15X8s with 5.5 in of backspacing with 275/50/15s and 15X3.5s up front, im unsure of there backspacing but know they need a minimum of 10mm spacer to work with the stocky calipers. I'm currently using a 25mm spacer.

Sorry for leaving my thread to die. It seems I haven't really had time for anything really, just come check out my tall a** grass that I call a lawn!

I did find some time to start on the exhaust, I have 100% completed it from the headers to the diff. I'm not going to lie, my welds suck but have good penetration, currently using flux core mig welder which needs to be converted to gas, bad!

This is 3in pipe and a Magnaflow xpipe muffler.

I also discovered tonight that the VH runs like a mofo when the base timing is not set to 25btdc!

Wow, and 6 months later we have an update. Figured id take a winter break from the project and just recently started on some suspension mods along with new wheels and tires.

Engine is pretty much the same, although I kept having problems blowing my upper radiator hose off so its off receiving a weld bead to hopefully solve that problem.New rear suspension consist of 5 lug hubs, RUCA, Toe arms, new breaks, ball joints, and Ksport coilovers. Wheels and tires for the rear are FN01RC 17x10s +35 with RT615 275/40/17s.Still rocking wimpy 4 lug 8s up front on 235/40s. Just waiting on some cash flow so I can purchase some 17x9 +15s to match the rear with 255/40/17 RT615S. Once there on Ill lower the front a bit more so the car sits more level. Please look pass the horrible fitting front end, I still need to align it better. As someone requested forever ago here are some alternate hood shots.Still lacks a few things before she is road ready again, such asInstalling 5 lug front hubsNew front ball jointsFront wheels and tiresAlignmentAnd I have to fix the front body panels as it looks like Ray Charles put them on for me.

Thanks for looking, ill do a better job of keeping this thread alive.
