That is a great looking grill. Do you think you'll ever make a solid, smooth grill to entirely cover that section? And what about a possible cover for that slot right under the grill?

Sorry. I'm looking at all of this from an aerodynamics/fuel economy standpoint. :wavey:

Thanks! We are always looking for new ideas to strengthen our product line and if we did create a second version, it would be some time down the road.

As for covering the opening beneath the grille, we thought about that as well, but decided not to since if fed cool air to the radiator. There is also a small RAM air system near the grille opening, which feeds cool air into the OEM intake. When removed or blocked, we noticed a drop in horsepower.

Despite that, sounds like a nice idea for customization that we will keep in mind, thank you

You're welcome.

The opening I'm referring to is directly under the grill/headlight section, not the very bottom of the air dam. If you notice in this picture of the Krom model, this slotted is totally omitted.

Mine with the slot. I'm pretty sure that slot is just there for cosmetics more than anything else...

Hey Chops! If you look close enough on the krom grill, you will see 4 slots, two on each side! ;) There is an intake tubing that catches the air. I know randode covered his up though and since you are looking at hypermiling. Blocking that off would decrease the amount of hp, according to ATI, so that would decrease mpg right? I might be wrong on that....

No, you're correct, but that intake can be rerouted. In fact, a lot of hypermilers "preheat" the intake by placing the intake tubing right next to the exhaust manifold because the incoming air becomes less dense, meaning less air, less fuel, which in turn ultimately means less hp. I'm still on the fence about this little mod, but since I'm not hot-rodding the loud pedal, it may be beneficial to me.

Less air, less fuel, and less hp just means the engine is working harder to attain (and maintain) a given speed. Bad call.

There's a reason I'm seeing almost 30mpg in my Vette... The engine never has to work really hard. 50mph = 1000 rpm = great fuel economy.

Chops, as we've discussed, there's far better ways of increasing your mpg, but that ain't one of them.

ChopsQube, thanks for the pics. Ahh, we gotchya, will take a look at it and see what we can come up with. The opening is relatively small, so cost should be relatively low. Mounting may be an issue, but we'll see what can be done.

Everyone’s been posting up some good points. At the end of the day, we want to make sure the Cubes run efficiently and at the same time increase style. Our grille is one of those inexpensive options that can hopefully help!!!

Thanks guys

That would be pretty awesome! Not too sure how many krom owners would change out their grill though...

If they do, they don't deserve a Krom.

After playing a bit on photoshop, I do not think the same styled grill would look the right since the krom grill is about an inch taller.

I agree with you, but there are reports of this working for the better as well. When you have the time, check this short thread out...

Forj Works who manufactures the eyelids can also do custom one offs. They did require a test vehicle in order to manufacture the Cube part, so it does take time. It would be safe to say that if many Versa guys were interested, they would consider running a batch.

Do you have a contact you would pass along? I have an extra head of headlights they could possibly use.

I'll throw a thread up to see who's interested in a set for the V.
