Hello everyone. I'm new to the forum and would like to introduce myself. My name is LeLynn, I live in California and I have a 1973 240z project that I'd like to get underway. I currently drive the car daily and have been collecting parts and information for it over the past 4 or 5 months. The car currently has its original l24 engine backed by a 280z 5 speed transmission. I have swapped out the rear differential for a 2005 Subaru STI unit with limited slip. I picked up a 2001 RB25det NEO engine, transmission, ecu and wiring harness for it about 3 months ago. Today I decided to print out the "How to" on the wiring of the engine in hopes of starting the engine on its stand this evening in preparation for swapping it into the car next weekend. Here is my problem. Once printed out and after carefully reading it line by line, it turns out this "how to" is actually for an r33 RB25det engine. None of the pins on the pin out correspond with the descriptions of the pins given in this guide. This is a HUGE bummer for me. I'd love to get this swap underway as I believe I have all of the needed parts to get the swap finished. A little background on my previous projects and my skillset. I'm 34 years old and have been working on cars with my father since a very young age. This is not my first engine swap project, I have successfully swapped a 1996 5.9l Cummins into my 1981 Chevy pickup, as well as swapping in a 2003 Subaru WRX ej20 into my 1965 VW beetle. The beetle runs a Megasquirt 3 ECU and harness both build myself. Wiring in not exactly my favorite thing in the world, but I'm quite capable provided I have the information needed at hand. I am proficient with a mill and a lathe (Both of which I have at home) as well as MIG and TIG welding (I have one of each as well). Is there ANYONE who can lead me to a "How to" for wiring an r34 RB25det NEO engine? I'd hate to have to spend $600 on a pre fabbed wiring harness when I'm perfectly capable of doing this myself. I simply lack the information I need to get this job done. The price tag isn't exactly something I'd like to spend at the moment either. This project has already eaten into the wallet as it is. ANY assistance you guys (And gals) can provide me would be greatly appreciated. I just signed up for this forum this morning, but I'll try to get some pictures of my projects up sometime soon. Thanks again for your help, I hope to be driving the Z with its new power plant VERY soon.

Welcome aboard!

I'll see if we can find that pinout... I'm certain we have it here somewhere.

Any update ? I have the same issue with my S30 however it's running and drivable however the O2 sensor pigtail was cut and there's an annoying hissing/sucking sound at the back of the engine. i can slowly accelerate with no problems however when i push hard on it the car will die and stutter until i ease off the accelerator.

The reason i am asking is because i would love to know if you have the details on the wiring harness 1 and two if anyone else has the bogging issue with their engine.

For the wiring specific and troubleshooting issues with RB engines you might have more luck soliciting help in the RB section as none of these problems relate to this chassis specifically.
