Folks:Just wanted to pop up a quick introduction. If all goes well I'm buying an 08 2.5 SL Sedan tomorrow. This replaces my '03 Honda Accord EX sedan which has racked up 240,000 trouble-free miles. I'm hoping to duplicate that experience with the Altima.

Obviously I drive a lot (Mid-Atlantic area) and gas mileage was imortant. I'm hoping to beat the 31 mpg on the '08 EPA rating for the car.

I'm not a big accessory/mod fan but will pound the car with plenty of miles and post my experiences. I do 99% of my own maintenance and will also post those comments. I have the OBDII scan tool in my laptop and will have to investigate use with the 2.5L motor. Changes to the '08 will be putting in my XM radio (SkiFi2) and getting some fog lights in place of the plastic covers (love some input on the fogs).

I enjoy cars and bikes. We have a '96 Impala SS in the garage that has some tweaks, but has become a garage queen in the past five years. My wife drives a Silverado Crew-Cab and we have a beater '94 Buick LeSabre. I own two Triumph motorcycles, an '02 Bonneville America and a '66 Bonneville chopper.

I'm looking forward to learning about my new car and getting to know you folks.

Al

Welcome to Nico!

I also have the infamous OBDII scanner. It came in handy for my previous QR motor in the SpecV.

Welcome!

You have an '03 Honda that already has 240,000 miles?!? According to my calculations, that's about 48,000 miles per year.

Anyway, congrats on the upcoming purchase and make sure to post pictures!

Thanks guys. Sealed the deal this morning, car's in the driveway (wife's truck/SS hogs up the garage.

Yeah, I drive a lot. Hopefully this Altima holds up the pounding. I've suffered for 4.5 years without heated seats. Thats a big plus when you go out into a frozen NY hotel parking lot. I forgot to mention I'm a previous Nissan owner, had a beloved '93 NX2000 that went over 200k. 16 year old daughter totaled that one in a few months. Still miss that one. I was pretty active with the SER.net and SER Club of America. Now I'm a wuss and just use the car for travel, no more autox, etc.

I spent about 2.5 hours this morning yanking out my good Kenwood speakers that will fit the Altima (have to call Crutchfield for connectors), my hands-free phone system and XM radio. I'm a little bummed my SkiFi2 is just a little too tall to fit the Altima cubby (can't read the display because of the door). I might have to get a new XM unit to fit better. I can't live without Satellite radio and the miles I pile on. Speakers, phone system go into the Altima on Saturday. I'll search for door panel removal tips, but it looks pretty straightforward.

Here's a shot of the new ride, my old Accord (sniff..) and that crazy odometer reading. I'm pretty proud of how the Accord looked after 200,000 plus miles:

And the new ride:

Welcome!Yeah Hondas are awesome. My 89 Accord Coupe has 182K and my 90 Legend as 114k...both still running strong!

Congrats and good luck with the new Nissan. She looks great!

Nissan looks nice and if you take of it, it will last you a long time.

I would recommend taking off that moonroof deflector though. Looks much cleaner without it.

Ha! Don't get me started on the sunroof deflector. I hate them. Working out the final details for the purchase with the sales manager last night Wed night by phone, I mentioned for the third time I hate the deflectors and wanted to take it off, particuarly at the $100 cost. The guy tells me it's part of the Nissan package, but "they work something out". I tell him I want the rubber, all-season mats instead. He says sure, we'll work that out.I mention it twice to the salesman yesterday, he looks puzzled but says not to worry. I go in to sign papers and what they owe/I owe and the mats aren't mentioned. I say we'll sign those items later, so the finance guy goes out, after some discussion, they agree to give me the mats. Told the wife I'm not leaving without the damn mats! The deflector comes off tomorrow...

Yep, I loved that motor and those folks. Wonder whatever happened to my car, it's in some junkyard somewhere rusting away. I'll have to scan a pix/post.

It appears they dropped the Altima SE-R? Good thing, I didn't want to send that kind of dough, but it sure would have been tempting!
