Hi there,

I live in Vancouver, BC, where Skylines are aplenty (well, much more common than anywhere else!). I own a beautiful low mileage Porsche 944, that I've owned for nearly 5 years now, and I've decided it's time to move on.

I've been interested in Skylines for a long time now, and the time has come to buy one. I have my eye on a local GTS-4, 128k, adjustable suspension, low mileage, but otherwise pretty stock. I plan on buying this car, then finding my dream R32 GTR next year.

I've been a regular member and poster on rennlist.com, which is the world's best forum for Porsches, and I found this forum just by browsing.

I'm wondering, are there some other good Skyline forums out there? What are some essential things I need to know about ownership? I know 944's inside and out, and you need to know that the belts need to be checked and replaced often, and the clutches are expensive to replace, about 10 hours for an NA, 18 hours for a Turbo S (!). Are there any similar things I need to know? What about when I'm inspecting them, what should I look for?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the world of NICO.

We have many knowledgeable members here on the Skyline, the RB serires motors and many other aspects of Nissan and Infiniti's. Your best bet would be to start researching as much as you can. There is a flashing search button at the top of the forum page, use that. It needs a little tweaking but if you put in the right words, you can yield some pretty good results.

One of the first things you may want to know about the GTS-4 is that they are fairly old cars, being the R32 model chassis. The RB20DET in those are good motors, but with the AWD system, it really robs the engine of a lot of potential.

Don't hesitate to ask questions, we are here to help, just be sure you try the search function first as you will get a lot of flammin from people who will tell you to "Search Noob". So, if you can't find it by searching, then try asking the questions here.

Nice to have you aboard, if you need anything, shoot me an e-mail.

Thanks very much for the help.

I've heard the engines for these cars are great, and I know that they are infinitely tunable, and even the stock GTS4 I drove blew me away. I'm looking forward to ownership. The car is also still 4 years newer than my car now, so it's a step up.

I'll make use of the search function, I know how it works as over on rennlist there are plenty of people who want to "turbo their NA" and the like, and then there are flames aplenty!

I'll have many more questions to come, thanks for the support.

Cheers,Brendan

Welcome to NiCo. Other forums like http://www.racebread.com or http://www.240sxforums.com, even http://www.hybridz.org offer great information about general RB motor information.

http://www.gtr.co.uk http://www.gtrcanada.comhttp://www.skyl ... stalia.com

These sites offer great information as well about Skylines.
