Hi guys,

Im Naz, newbie to the forum

Had the Infinit M35h 2011 for a few months now and loving it!
Also got a Nissan 370z so double member of Nico... Pics of both to Follow

Wondering if anyone knows about the forest air/aroma and how to replace the old fragrance.

I know \I can get a new one from Infinti, but they want an extra £50 for fitting it, which i'm not to keen on.
Tried looking for a tutorial on it, but cant find anything, so thought someone here might have some advice?

Thanks a lot

Naz

I was under the impression that the 'forest' part of the forest air was just a name they came up with as it is suppose to provide your cabin with fresh/filtered air but without the aroma/scent. Is the cabin air filter suppose to be scented? I have never smelled anything 'forest' in my car.

you can always get it from the dealer and put it in yourself. Very easy, check out this video:

Hey,

This is just copied off a website about the forest air

All-new for this third-generation Infiniti M is an aroma diffuser that subtly scents incoming ventilation air with forest-fresh fragrances, chosen for their specific drive-enhancing qualities. For instance, leaf scent is calming and reduces fatigue, while fragrant wood scent, from the tropical borneol tree, also has a calming effect but in addition aids concentration, important with a car as powerful and dynamic as the new Infiniti M. The scents alternate and are used intermittently.

So I rang the dealer and you do get a fragrance unit, I just hope it's the same place as that cabin filter

This is the funniest thing ever. Nissan found a way to charge owners $75 for a plug-in type air scent cartridge when a $5 doohickey will do the same thing. I wouldn't bother replacing it. Now what is impressive with the new climate control system is the humidity regulation and the ion screen. Very neat indeed.

EDIT: I guess I stumped myself while searching around. Now I understand why it costs $75 per year it's more than just aroma. It's aroma therapy!

"Aroma
Taking a hint from the pleasant effect of forest air on people, Nissan studied the effects of aromas on human mental activity. The resulting Forest AC system intermittently and alternately furnishes two unique aromas, borneol*1 and leaf alcohol*2, to alleviate boredom and stimulate the driver's brain. Borneol combines a compound made from fragrant Kapur wood, lavender and other essential oils to promote calm and focus, while leaf alcohol is found in most plants and is thought to have a calming effect and reduce fatigue. The system utilizes a special interchangeable aroma cartridge (with a one-year life) to produce the forest effect.

Development of the Forest AC was based on results of a joint Nissan research study with Professor Kikunori Shinohara of the Tokyo University of Science, Suwa, Japan. "The relaxed state," said Professor Shinohara, "is one in which the person calms down from external conditions or the consequences of what he or she has done and achieves mental acuity, resulting in good work." Test subjects simultaneously exposed to these aromas and controlled ventilation simulating a natural breeze exhibited changes in cerebral blood flow. This, Shinohara says, can create the relaxed state of a person sitting for calligraphy or a tea ceremony - alert and focused, yet with tension relieved."
