Hi everyone^^

I wanted to introduce myself and hope to become an active member of this board.

My name is Boris, I just purchased my second Z! a blue 92 tt (at), my first one was a 90 tt was orange with a veilside kit and i eneded up selling it it long ago.I will toss some pics up later tonight hopefully, I do have a few questions as i have been out of the Z crowd for almost 2 years now .

I took the Z to work today and everything was fine, then i went to lunch and it would not crank over....sounded like it was grinding, it did this 2 times then started up.I am thinking it needs a starter and a flywheel, is there a way to see the flywheel easy? if this is the issue should i replace these with factory parts, or would aftermarket be a good way to go, if i go factory should i go through a local nissan dealer, or is there a good online store you guys can recommend. Also since im getting this done i would like to do the timing belt, i have no service records for the vehicle, it has 95k on it, what else would you guys recommend i take care of to keep my Z happy.I will also be upgrading the ecu, exhaust and intake, would it be wise to get a new ecu, i ask because i am seeing this chips for fairly cheap that don't require you to reprogram the whole ecu, and i know most of the time you get what you pay for, so i hope someone has used/using one of these and can give me some feedback.

Thanks ahead of time to all those that can give me some answers

Boris

the grinding when you crank it isn't likley the flywheel, but more likely an ailing starter or a weak electrical connection, seems to be a popular problem of late, if you continue grinding you can wear on the flywheel but thts not too likely, as for the timing belt, I'd go ahead and get the tensioner, stud, waterpump and thermostat as wella s the hoses while your at it, they add up quickly but it's cheap insurance

Weak solenoid in the starter, you can lube it up and it will work properly.

I used to get this once every 20 starts or so, now it hasn't done it in 2 weeks.

So I have been asking at work (chevy dealeship) about lubing the solenoid in the starter, and everyone is laughing cause they all think it needs a flywheel and a starter, can anyone explain the weak solenoid and how to lube it to me?

also I have found this add localy is it worth it for me to buy this?

(Selling a Jim Wolf Chip for 300ZX Twin Turbos. This chip is in great shape and is barely used. Bought new for $450, willing to let go for only $150 OBO. This adds 60 HP when you install with boost jets (not included). Nows your chance to steal this and get the best chip you can buy for your Z at a fraction of the cost of new!!)

Is instalation of the jim wolf chip hard, can i do it or do i need a profesional?

Thanks for any help
