Well actually I am a sponsored and competitive autocross racer and I came from having one of Kansas City's fastest STi's to now a nearly stock 240.Anand wrote:I personally think, swayt bar is a sway bar, you will get the same effect as far as we go. if you are a pro, then I don't know..
I just bought a used stock way for the rear and it works great for me!
I left the front stock one on there since it is think enpough. I am thinking upgrading the endlinks to solid ones from SPL though.. that might help a lot..
Gah!! You have Eibach Sportlines? Those are horrible, do a search on 'em and buy yourself a better set of springs. I used to run them on my deceased S13 and they blew my front AGX's in exactly one year (the drop from the Sportlines also voided the AGX warranty). I made the mistake of not doing research, back when i had my car in 2002 everyone had Sportlines until more companies started making superior units. Drop by the Suspension/Wheel/Tire forum, Chet (Exar-Kun) has a whole FAQ written with specs on sway bars, springs, tires, etc. I made the switch from Sportlines to Suspension Technique springs which have a linear rating, so they're much more predictable and very stiff and the drop won't void my AGX warranty (only 1.5"--which is more than enough IMO)Scooby24 wrote:

I've only got Eibach Sportlines on it right now and it handles pretty good but still has a bit more body roll and desired and it oversteers quite aggressively.
Thicker sways will provide less body roll and the stiffer the front the less oversteer and 29 mm is the biggest I've heard. I just don't know if it's TOO big and will give me understeer.
Thanks for the input.skydragoness wrote:

Note: I'm not flaming your or anything, just letting you know from personal experience those springs suck. And yes I autocross (not hardcore, could only make it a few times this year since my other coupe got totaled and i'm trying to get my new s13 up-to-speed)

Glad your'e happy with the car, and it's obvious your'e a good driver if you can hang with the higher-class cars at an autocross. I used to know this guy that worked a retired-cop car and hung times with Porsche boxters.Scooby24 wrote:

I actually am not unhappy with them for now on the stock shocks....and I'd be really surprised if .3" more of a drop from the eibachs is enough to be what caused the KYB's the blow....
BTW for comparrison's sake my stock, automatic, contisport extreme tire equipped 240 with only springs was only about 5 seconds behind an STi driver at the auto-x course that consistently hung with me.
That's not bad....if I didn't keep drifting all over the place I might have done a LOT better.
5spd goes in tomorrow
and the KC Regional Championship is sunday and monday so I'll really get to see what this car can do.... if I can get within 2 seconds of my Buddy I will be happy.
As soon as I get my pain and suffering check an FMax turbo kit will be going in along with some hoosiers and the sways and then I'll give em a run for their money.
I love this car.
Wow...I didn't realize they dropped the S13s that much. Had it dropped my car that much I'd have shat myself.skydragoness wrote:

As far as my agx's blowing, it was more than just coincidence, it was a terrible idea on Eibach's part to make springs that drop 2.2-2" in the front and have them progressively rated. The AGX's can't handle it, hence their warranty. I've noticed a major change on the autox course since I made the switch, and also you should look into subframe collars (unless you want to go hard-core and drop your subframe and get urethane ones inserted), they really help minimize any wheel-hop issues and stiffen up the rear.
i wouldnt recommend the sportlines either. i wouldnt get the complete energy suspension kit because some suspension parts that u can buy will have solid mounts...so u can choose between solid and polyurethaneScooby24 wrote:I was looking at getting energy suspension complete eurethane inserts for the entire car (90+ piece kit) but then I thought....good god that would be 3 or 4 days work just to get all those sumbiches in their place. lol
For now I'm taking things one step at a time... mod... then autocross to see the difference....going to just keep going on that path until I'm happy with it.
wait...no that's not a good idea....I'm never "happy" with anything. At that rate I'd be modding till I was dead.
